Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Cinda Williams Chima comes the third gripping adventure in the Shattered Realms series, where intricately interwoven storylines converge as the warring Seven Realms struggle to unite against a horrific tyrant.

Vagabond seafarer Evan Strangward can move wind, waves, and weather, but his magical abilities can't protect him forever from the brutal Empress Celestine. As Celestine's relentless bloodsworn armies grow, Evan travels to the Fells to warn the queendom that an invasion is imminent.

If he can't convince the Gray Wolf queen to take a stand, he knows that the Seven Realms will fall, and his last sanctuary will be destroyed. Among the dead will be the one person Evan can't stand to lose.

Meanwhile, the queen's formidable daughter, Princess Alyssa ana'Raisa, is already a prisoner aboard the empress' ship, sailing east. Lyss may be the last remaining hope of bringing down the empress from within her own tightly controlled stronghold.

A spellbinding story!

I’m thoroughly enjoying the story tapestry ms. Chima has created in the third installation of the series. If you, like me, are hoping to find out right away what happened to Hal and Lys from book 2, we don’t get to return to those characters until chapter 16 and beyond. It’s a little hard to follow at times as there are numerous concurrent story lines with an increasing number of primary players. The ending has twists and ends a bit abruptly so I’ve got the 4th book cued up and ready to roll!

Loved this book!

I love this story and I love this book.

Listen to the whole Shattered Kingdom series from the beginning for the best benefit.

Better yet, read the Seven Realms series too, it will add so much to the story.

The characters are so charming, the story is compelling and the narrator brings it all to such vivid life! I can hardly wait to see how it all ends, but i must admit I will be sad to say good-by when its over.

Highly recommended!

I don't want to wait a year for the next book.

When it ends & you quickly hit rewind, refusing to accept the fact that it has ended. I'm in a low mode of withdrawal right now.

Awesome. Great. Epic.

The stories all start coalescing and it is done in such a way that the character development is spot on. I love this series and the style unique. Kim Mai Guest is also brilliant as usual

Best One Yet

This series is more face paced than the last but in this book you actually get a fluffy, slow burn romance in the beginning. You don’t find out what happens till Lyssa until several chapters in because of it but it is so worth it. Some big questions get answered and there are real tear jerkers. Can’t wait to see how the series ends!

China’s story lost my interest

Story line is good but heads up that there is a homosexual hero if that is not something you are interested in.
