recording not so great
The naration was good. but needs more polishing in the editing . as quite often it rrapeted itself and could tell it wasn't cut.
The rest of it was great

Great book
I really enjoyed this book. It's so easy to listen to all the adventures of Meg. Great narrating by Lainie Pahos.

Disappointing
I couldn't get through the first book.
It's more a series of short sentences than a flowing narrative... which makes it very staccato and "bitty" Plus, the plot-device of her magical abilities meaning all Meg has to to is utter three repeats of a word in Latin to get whatever magical effect she desires (stuck door, fake police badge, illusionary police uniform...) is far too easy/convenient - like a perpetual Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card for life. It doesn't bode well for an interesting and engaging storyline.
It telegraphs the intended Romance that is going to develop between Meg and her returned-to-town policeman ex. It's heading over the horizon with horns blaring to announce its arrival, which doesn't bode well for the chances of it being a subtle sub-plot instead of an overblown Major Plot Theme of the in-your-face style already done to death by so many paranormal fiction series that present themselves like Tacky Romance novels.
It's also badly produced (lots of repeated sections that need editing out), and badly narrated (glaring mispronunciations such as "bespeckled" instead of "bespectacled", "voluMptuous" instead of "voluptuous") and the stilted narration emphasises the short choppy sentence structure with no natural flow to connect the sentences into a coherent whole.
So, I wasn't impressed and, after an overnight break part way through the first of the eight books, realized I had been given no incentive to continue listening. I'm marking this one down as a dud.

Needs editing
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Lainie Pahos
This narrator has a pleasant voice and delivery making these stories an enjoyable listen.
Bk 1: The witches of enchanted bay
Enchanted doughnuts is the shop we all wish for, doughnuts enchanted with magic to make them low calorie and healthy!
If you’re going to play the sluth then having magic at your disposal is a bonus but then why wouldn’t you just cast a spell to make people tell the truth?
There’s is a repeated line that really should have been picked up in editing.
Bk 2: Ax to grind
Connor and Meg are a likeable couple, unfortunately this book is almost exactly the same as the first book, word for word in places.
Again as in book 1 there is a repeated line that should have been picked up in editing.
Bk 3: killer twist
Meg is investigating the death of a friend who’s tell all book is going to ruffle the feathers of a rich family.
This is a better story than the first two, there are less of the word for word repeats that are in books 1 & 2.
This story has two repeated lines that should have been picked up in editing.
Bk 4: A bewitching murder
This was an enjoyable story but unfortunately editing let it down.
The end of Chapter 8 cuts off just as a sentence starts then goes straight to chapter 9, there was also two repeated lines, was this audio not listened to/edited before it was released?
Bk 5: A riddle of a murder
This is a nice and enjoyable story but again there are two repeated lines that editing should have picked up.
Bk 6: The nuts and bolts of murder
There appears to be some dialogue missing. They go to confront the killer and the next chapter starts with the suspect pointing at his name tag saying it couldn’t be his they found but Meg and Conner hadn’t mentioned finding a name tag.
Bk 7: strangling ambition
This is an enjoyable story but again the editing lets it down this one had three Repeated lines
Bk 8: Therapy can be murder
These cozy mysteries would be much more entertaining if they weren’t exactly the same as each other. As with the first seven in this series this book needs editing, there are two Repeated lines in this one.

Cute
Book One- The Witches of Enchanted Bay.
A cute, short read. The story flowed at a good pace and concluded nicely. I would have liked to see Meg and her family use magic more. I liked the talking cat/gran. It reminded me of Salem in Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Review for book 2 will follow shortly.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading audio copy.

Really did not like these
Sadly I did not like these. Managed 2 of the books. The stories seemed identical and told in the same way.
The narrator's voice was irritating; or maybe that accent is just not for me.
I didn't like any of the characters; and felt the author was just capitalising on a winning formula for other authors.
Nothing good to say sadly.
