Summary

Recounting the life and times of one of the most respected men in the world, The Snowball is the most fascinating financial success story of our time.

Warren Buffett, the legendary Omaha investor has never written a memoir, but finally has given Alice Schroeder unprecedented access to him and all those closest to his work, opinions, struggles, triumphs, follies and wisdom. The result is this personally revealing and complete biography of 'The Oracle of Omaha', indispensable reading for those who wish to know the man behind the outstanding achievements.

Critic reviews

"An epic account of the greatest capital accumulator in history." ( The Times)
"An absorbing read ... The Warren Buffett who emerges from these pages is unorthodox, honest, gifted and, in many ways, admirable. In the business of life, however, one suspects that this complex man has rather a lot of debits, as well as credits, on his personal balance sheet." ( Observer)
"A monumental work ... you feel like you've been in the presence of a monumentally flawed but riveting character ... utterly compelling." ( Evening Standard)
"A well-written, forensically researched and sensitive insight into the Midas of our times." ( Spectator)
"Buffett has been ahead of the curve for most of the past fifty years, making him one of the world's richest people. The Snowball provides clues about how he's done it." ( Financial Times)

Sounds like Siri is narrating it

I was really looking forward to this but I just can’t listen to it as the narrator sounds like my Sat Nav!

Great insight into a public figure

The book gives much insight into the life as well as some of the aspects of the business life of Warren Buffett. It shows his very flawed life, his tumultuous relationship with his wife. He may be rich, but there are many aspects of his life many would never trade for his wealth. If you liked Steve Jobs Official biography, you will very much like this as well. The story of how he started getting involved in investing, is inspiring, and perhaps much good ideas can be used to develop our children in developing a sensible mindset. A candid review of his life. An entertaining read. You will end up having much sympathy and praise for Buffett after this read, and perhaps a better love of your own life.

Only for die-hard Buffet fans.

I've no doubt that the book is a well researched and reasonably accurate description of Warren Buffet's life, but ultimately it failed to entertain me and doesn't have sufficient detail to illuminate that much of the method behind his investment choices.

At least this version is mercifully abridged from the enormous length of the book upon which it's based. Only for die-hard Buffet fans.

Ups and downs but facts are great

Narrating was excellent.. The story was OK but not relating to what I wanted to know Warren has some very great points we all must following but in term of business I found it not useful to me as I come from a very different background. I struggle to finish but the part I liked will never forget his a legend

Very bad performance. Waste of money.

The book itself is good. Very bad performance. Woman's voice doesn't let to focus on financial book. I bought about 20 investment audio books and did not have this problem. May be sound is bad, not sure.
