Summary

When Eat, Pray, #FML was published, it quickly found its audience, a worldwide tribe of women who fiercely followed Gabrielle into the fiery pits of heartache, the sometimes-ugly valleys of depression, on the roller-coaster highs and lows of solo travel, and into the depths of what it really means to love yourself - healing.

As book fans demanded more and Eat, Pray, #FML became the heartbreak Bible, it was clear that Gabrielle would need to deliver a sequel - but not just any sequel. A sequel that would have all the wild love affairs, the devastating heartbreaks, the magic of solo travel, and the captivating drama we think only exists in the untamed novels we read.

The Ridiculous Misadventures of a Single Girl gives listeners an intimate look into what Gabrielle went through when she returned home from her grand European adventure, the challenges she faced as she tried to put the pieces back together, the men - new and old - who shook her world, and the epic conclusion to the real-life story so many have become invested in.

Filled with all the characters you fell in love with, new triumphs and setbacks, a soul-defining journey to the other side of the world, and answers to all of your burning questions, this is The Ridiculous Misadventures of a Single Girl.

Due to the mature language and content, this book is recommended for listeners18+.

A notable more mature writing this time round.

I enjoyed this book but I preferred the first book. It was great to hear an update on what happened next in her life. Book 1 made me feel angry for her for what men had put her through. Book 2 was the opposite. The way she treated Tyler was very poor & echoed all of the things that had been done to her, so it was disappointing that she then did it to someone else but for a longer period of time than what she had had to endure.
Her writing style had matured since book 1, in my opinion. She appears to have listened to her critics & made some changes in her writing style. There was a lot less repetition of the same stories & phrases, which I was glad to see.
I just hope she has also started to mature in her own life & how she treats people.

Better than first book

I love Gabrielle Stone after reading her first book. However in this second book her writing has already improved to a new level and so has she. You will not be disappointed.

Unintentionally ironic and unwaveringly narcissistic

Ok so this was entertaining, I spent a lot of it groaning “oh come on!” after most of her sentences. If you don’t mind being deeply irritated then crack on and buy it! I understand these books are about this lady’s life so are autobiographical and therefore should be mainly about her and her life, but MAN the self-absorption gets overwhelming. I listened to the first book after seeing her on tiktok and within a couple hours I felt like she seemed very unaware of herself and very quick to blame others/the universe/trauma for the circumstances in her life. She tells a story of how the universe always put her places and brought people into her life and how she always just ended up with X person and doing something silly and it just happened TO her and she couldn’t control it. Ridiculous is the right word. The first book wasn’t as bad but this second book! Wow. She is basically stringing someone along the whole time and making over emotional statements and excuses for her horrible behaviour - which is actually far worse than what Javier did to her, as it is repeated and prolonged. She claims to take responsibility for things but doesn’t, repeats the same stupid actions and just makes crap excuses. Everything in her life is a drama. Oh and not to mention the sheer volume of people she meets who love her, are insanely attracted to her, have never met a girl like her, just need to be with her, have a once in a lifetime bond with her, think she’s so brave and powerful. It just doesn’t happen. And the deep and meaningful conversations and connections she has with almost everyone she meets on her travels. Yawn. It’s not realistic and I actually don’t believe a lot of it happened.

Entitled and racist undertones

While I was ambivalent on the 1st book I decided to listen on the 2nd. The other fails to realise her privilege and often racialised her lovers. It is almost like fetichism of latin men, like their latiness is the main trait of character. Further, when explained Tyler's emotional responses, she refers to his father being Persian. It perpetuates stereotypes that honestly a blond white woman should be careful about. It was intolerable!
