Do we own it? Being a woman that is. Do we f--k! We live in fear of how we look, what we eat, how we age and what we do. Wow, it's 2022 and we're still churning out that same old shit. I've been told as you get older you care less. F--king great. I can't wait to be menopausal with skunk-like grey track lines in my hair, saggier tits and miserable as shit. I don't know about you, but I'd quite like to have that experience—the no-f--ks-experience that is—now, before that all happens. To have the confidence to believe in who I am.

People 'know' my on-stage comedy persona or my scripted ballsy characters and wrongly assume that, at home, I must stomp around all day in designer dresses, eviscerating those who dare to cross my path and denouncing the existence of men in general. But mostly, I just sit eating pickles and being nice to some dogs. I'm often asked how I developed my lurid level of courage and assurance and for tips on how others can match. The Audacity is my chance to share my blueprint for just that.

Love and kindness ♥️
- By Deirdre Lynam on 03-03-22
Summary
For every woman that has ever felt trapped; a funny, raw, and empowering mid-life-crisis.
Creator, mother, lover, and social media phenomenon Tova Leigh explores what the hell you are supposed to do when you find yourself living a life you don't remember signing up for.
I was bored, angry, tired, and sad. I felt all alone yet I had nothing to complain about. I had a good job, a husband who wasn't shagging his assistant, three children who apart from being the occasional a**holes were pretty good kids; a house, a dog, and everything else we are told as little girls we should aspire to. But inside, I was growing restless. I didn't want to be looked at as just a "mom". I wanted to be desired, to make someone's hair stand on end and go crazy for me. I didn't want to live by some label that didn't represent me. I looked at my messy minivan one morning and I wanted to vomit on it all. I panicked, thinking about how I am slowly approaching middle age and menopause, and I wondered how many years do I have left of being "f--ckable" before everything starts going downhill?
In her first book, Tova takes the listener on her journey of rediscovering who she is after motherhood and beyond the norms society forces upon women, whilst encouraging them to break free and just be themselves.
When you find authenticity it's hard to go back. It's like opening a door to the truth and starting to breathe a new type of air. This discovery is what prompted me to write. It's my way of saying HERE I AM.

If you read or listen to it, try not to judge
If you like to read a broad spectrum of opinion on life, philosophy and psychology, you will enjoy this book. If you focus on the story, appreciating that people and their relationships are diverse, then there are take-aways and insights for most. This is an often funny, sometimes sad but relatable story about a woman and her family with all the challenges, victories, happy and tragic times she and they have encountered on their journey, laid bare. Tova appears sincere and honest in her narrative and presents her life dilemmas in simple terms. I enjoyed the read.

And I’m not even 40
After becoming a teen mom at 17, completely feeling like an adult, yet in the body of a child, honestly.... I’ve never related to anything more in my entire life. From her relationships, to her marriage, to her mom guilt and love for sex toys.. even at 27 I enjoy this book more and more. I find myself listening to it when I’m in between books. So far I’ve gotten 4 listens out of it. And with it being in Tovas voice makes is so much better 🤣
10/10 even tho I can only give 5 stars.

Rating from my husband's amazon account... I have followed Tova Leigh for a long time online. She is so funny and relatable online! This book was no different! We get so stuck in the routine of wife, mom, employee, etc. that we forget who we actually are. We are more than the roles we play.
