Summary

A hilarious essay collection perfect for anyone dealing with the challenges, indignities, and celebrations that come with being a 30-something by actor and YouTube star Lisa Schwartz (Lisbug).

THIRTY-LIFE CRISIS Lisa Schwartz's stories and musings are all about watching her friends adult like pros, while she tries to understand why she doesn't want or can't seem to find all the things they have for herself. Like a big sister who's already seen it all, Lisa will take listeners through her own life experiences to say that one thing we all need to hear: You are so not alone. Unabashed and unfiltered, Schwartz's voice and candor will appeal to anyone in their 30s who just can't deal with the never-ending Facebook feed of friends' engagement photos and baby pictures, the trials of figuring out where their passion meets their career, and everything in between.

So, if you've ever had to figure out....

  • Parenting Your Parents (Yikes)
  • Gender Reveal Parties (It's an actual thing.)
  • Discovering That Your Boyfriend Likes Boys (Surprise!)
  • Online Shopping Away Your Anxiety (Don't)
  • Or Gender Reveal Parties (Seriously. It's an actual thing.)

This book is your new best friend.

This book made me laugh to the point of tears, had me crying with heartbreak, and all the emotions you can imagine in between. I want to be this woman's friend. She's amazing.

Unrelateable

First of all, the audio quality was sub par. If you are in the 12-25 year old female demographic, you might enjoy the chatty and kinda spazzy style of the author. I really wanted to like this- I just could not relate to a single topic covered.

really disappointing

atleast half the book is her crying about her friends being parents and complaining that people are excited about the gender or name. After I pushed through that there where some interesting and educational chapters, but not enough to save the book.

A must read and a perfect gift.

This book blends hilarity with the true paroles of what it is to be in your late twenties to early thirties. I listened to it on a plane and was thoroughly entertained. I never stop recommending this book to either people who are this age or people with children this age. It's relatable, hilarious and Schwartz is unapologetically her self. I had known of her before but had never been a true "stan" but after this read, Schwartz has won me over.

Truly An Inspiration

I have followed Lisa Schwartz for what sense like forever now. Similar to her YouTube channel I have also fallen in love with her book. The realization she brings to her journey of growing up, going through several relationships, etc... brought me to both joyous and grief stricken tears. Lisa is truly an inspiration! And her book was beyond phenomenal. Did I forget to mention she’s also extremely hilarious! Definitely a highly recommended book to read for everyone really, but definitely for those who simply need a self motivation from the most realistic and relatable person.

Hilariously jaded perspective on being an "adult"

Before reading this book I had never had someone else express my thoughts on "Happily Ever After" movies and fairy tales and how they can set girls up for disappointment. Very entertaining book with interesting perspective on adulting.
