Summary

Laurence’s new lover is half his age. The problem? His relationship is about to make his life a lot more complicated....

Successful, sensible, and settled in his ways, single dad Laurence isn’t looking for love when he runs into the young man who sweeps him off his feet...and onto his knees. With an upcoming raise on the line and a son to care for, he can’t let an unconventional relationship jeopardize the future of his family. He’s a parent first and a lover second, and that’s the way it has to be.

Right?

The only thing Alex loves more than older men is being filthy with them. The problem? Sometimes, it backfires in the worst ways.

Up-and-coming painter Alex is broken in ways others can’t see, and he copes with the pain by drowning himself in experience - especially experienced men. But when he crosses paths with Laurence, he finds himself drawn down an avenue of life he’s sworn he’ll never visit again.

Men are meant to be disposable, and Laurence is only supposed to be a hookup...so why does Alex feel so safe whenever he’s around?

When a matter of concealed identity threatens Laurence and Alex’s bond, they have a choice - rise above the forces that seek to divide them and find happiness with each other, or let their problems grow too great to conquer.

The Problem is an 81,000-word contemporary omegaverse mpreg novel featuring a quirky group of single dads, the naughtiest lace panties you’ll ever hear about, and the gradual development of a relationship between a Daddy and his boy.

Amazing beginning to the series

I have been an ardent fan of Piper Scott for years and this is one of my favorite of her series.
I absolutely love the angst, humor and intense romantic scenes.
The way she brings these characters together and how they have formed such unbreakable bonds as found family is simply magic.
Michael Ferrieulio has of course once again added his own magical touch and brought these characters so vividly and vibrantly to life.

Fantastic Series, Ferraiuolo is Wonderful!

The first book in Piper Scott’s Single Dad Support Group, The Problem sets up what promises to be a fantastic series! Filled with creative characters, lots of Alpha/omega action, and baby birthin’, I can’t wait to see what the next book brings.

Nicely low on the angst level, there are still some interesting conflicts in The Problem. Teen pregnancy, abusive older Alpha lovers, and intriguing family dynamics, Piper Scott weaves her magic to keep my attention the whole way through.

Of course I’m doing the audio versions of Single Dad Support Group, especially since they're being narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo. He has a way with Ms. Scott’s stories: his wonderful accents, and his sultry, seductive voices bring everything to life in the best way possible.

OMG!! The book that started everything!!

I loved this series! The stories are about this eclectic group of single dads supporting each other through chat conversations. This first book told us the story of Laurence and Alex, and how they got together, after many angst situations, thanks to love, family and friendship. Emotional and inteanse the happy ending deserved every single tear I shed. And if you added the narration in the smooth and charismatic voice of Mr Ferraiuolo? simply perfect! Loved it!

Good age-gap story with great narration.

I love, love, love Michael Ferraiuolo's voice. He can read a grocery list and make it sound enticing. Narrating The Problem was no problem for him at all. 😊

This was the kind of age-gap story that I enjoy. I don't care for ones that constantly beat you over the head with the age difference and how it's so wrong for them to want to be together. Younger man Alex finds what he's always needed in the much older Laurence and Laurence finds the love he didn't know he was looking for.

This is the beginning of a series (with 7 books out in digital format) that has several very interesting characters who will be starring in their own books. I love how Michael Ferraiuolo reads the group chats. He makes it easy to know who is speaking and his voices really enhance the dialog between the characters. I'm looking forward to enjoying the rest of this series.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

5 star narration of a 5 star book!

Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted the audio version of this book.

I'm turning this review on it's head, writing about the narrator first, cos, you know, I can, it's my review :-)

Michael Ferraiuolo has been a bit of an enigma for me, I either love his work, or hate it, I won't lie. But THIS time? I freaking LOVED it!

Alex has synesthesia, which means he sees his emotions in colour. The whole book, Alex was seeing how Laurence was affecting him, and he wasn't sure what it meant. The best bits of this book were when Alex was describing his colours/emotions, to Laurence, to himself. I have no doubt I would not have been so moved by those scenes, had I READ this book. Ferraiuolo nails it, he really does. Moved me to tears in places!

Laurence is solid, a good man, with his 16 year old son, Matthew. I liked how, very quicky, he was wanting more from Alex, not just for the sex(but PHEW!) no. But MORE. He has lived his life for his son, and in one meeting, Alex makes him see that he still has life to live, that he does not have to been locked away. Matthew is growing, making *quite literally* a life for himself. Laurence needs Alex, and rapidly, Alex sees that he needs Laurence too.

I loved the voices given to all the characters, but I especially enjoyed the voices given to the Support Group when they were chatting. It annoyed me a little bit at first, I will admit, but once I got used to the way the group chats were delivered, I loved them.

When the reason Alex behaved the way he did, before Laurence, becomes clear, I was out walking. And I stopped in the middle of the street, and cried. And cried to whole way through that bit. THEN, when other things happen?? I stopped in the middle of the street, and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO came out my mouth, so loud, the woman across the road shouted to see if I was okay! I did NOT see that coming at me, no way, never in a million years!

So, yeah, loved the book, and loved the narration.

And now I'm left with a bit of a pickle! This is the only one of the series that is available in AUDIO, the books are out, all 6, but I don't like to flip from listening to reading in a series (or vice versa) So my pickle is, do I READ the next one? Or do I wait (im)patiently for the next one in audio? ARGH! Such decisions!

Introduction of a great SDSG series

This is the start of a great series with a humorous, snarky and supportive group of dads.
Alex seduces Laurence and from there the situation snowballs. Both men find in each other what they need. And we get to know Matrhew, Gace/ TD and Beau for a bit. I really like this omegaverse mpreg series. The narration is sympathetically done 4,5 stars in total
