Summary

After tragedy strikes, Callie Sinclair is left with a gift she never wanted - the ability to communicate with ghosts. But when a desperate widow begs for her help, she reluctantly agrees to investigate the strange occurrences at Hillwood Farm. She quickly realizes she’s dealing with a dangerous presence beyond anything she’s ever experienced, and something else becomes equally clear - the only other living person in the house, Mrs. Turner’s handsome grandson, thinks she’s a scam artist. While she’d prefer to just ignore him, her heart beats a little faster every time he’s nearby.

Luke Turner doesn’t believe in spirits. He’s moved back to restore the family farm, but living on the property serves a dual purpose - he can watch out for his grandmother. He’s not happy about the sudden appearance of a self-described psychic, or his inexplicable attraction to her. His initial suspicions crumble as evidence points to an actual haunting, but he’s still determined not to fall for Callie - the past has taught him it’s best to avoid relationships.

As Callie is drawn deeper into the mystery, she becomes the target of a vengeful spirit, and Luke can no longer fight his feelings for her. Unable to resist their desire, passion ignites…even as the paranormal activity escalates to a final deadly confrontation.

Enjoyed this story

The Haunting of Hillwood Farm was a thrilling page-turner and I was hooked from beginning to end. This novel had the right mix of romance, friendship, disbelief, mystery and scare factor. The story was my first Kathryn Knight novel and I enjoyed it immensely. The haunting wasn't really scary just a bit chilling at times, but it did keep me at the edge of my seat and I enjoyed the romance between the two characters in the story. I really enjoyed this novel and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of romantic thrillers.
The audible version was narrated by Kristin James. Her voice perfectly suited to this role and she did a fantastic job with the characters especially the ghost. Her timing and delivery was spot on and I enjoyed listening to her narrate this novel.

Just the right blend

Just the right right blend of life, haunting, suspicion, romance and mystery! It wasn't far fetched or a horror story, the story was very credible and extremely well written and narrated (although I thought at the beginning I may not totally enjoy the narration as the suspense voice was a little over exaggerated for me, but it was just that bit and the rest didn't disappoint)

I look forward to further books written by Kathryn Knight and Narrated by Kristin James.

Definitely spooky!

I normally don’t like to listen to haunting stories because I am such a scaredy-cat. But this was just the right blend for me. I could put out down this story. #audiobookobession 🎧

Haunting, Romantic, & Suspenseful

This was a haunting ghost story with a realistic romance. After a tragic accident, Callie finds herself having psychic episodes and able to communicate with ghosts. Callie is a medium who can communicate with spirits. A recently widowed woman, Alice, seeks her out to help her communicate with her deceased husband who she believes is haunting the property. Even though Callie wants nothing to do with the spirit world, she goes to Hillwood Farm and immediately feels a malevolent spirit that she doesn’t believe to be Alice’s husband. The widow’s grandson, Luke, believes she is a sham, but he finds her intriguing and Callie stays to investigate anyway. There were parts of the book that gave me chills and we’re filled with suspense and others that were filled with the start of a romance between Callie and Luke. I enjoyed the story overall and mainly that this wasn’t the typical trope of a believer and unbeliever of spirts, but the struggle of each character wondering if their relationship was right for them and if it’s what they even wanted. This story was filled with thrills, mystery, and romance and Kathryn did an amazing job at putting it together.
Kristin’s narration kept me engaged through the whole story. I liked that she had different voices for each character and gave Callie and Luke their own personalities. Kristin brought every spooky, suspenseful, and romantic moment to life with her performance!

It was ok

I like a good spooky book now and again, This was quite spooky, Callie has the gift of being able to communicate with ghosts. An old lady asks her for help and Callie arrives at Hillwood Farm and immediately gets bad vibes from it, it is a dangerous spirit, she has not experienced anything like it before. Besides the ghost, we have Luke, the old lady's grandson, he thinks Callie is scam artist but it isn't long before they get together. I enjoyed listening to this, however, I think there could have been more spooky/scary things in it and a bit longer story, the ending was so abrupt I was like what? 🎧Audiobook Obsession Reviewer

PNR with ghosts, a medium, sweet grandmother, and a hot hunk of a grandson. I’m not one to read reviews a head of listening I like to form my own opinions, so I was pleasantly surprised with the storyline, the intrigue and the sweet budding romantic aspect to the story. Will look for more from this author in the future.
Narrator Kristen James helped add a shiver up your spine with her inflection.

A Perfect Blend of Spooky and Romance

I received an audible code via Audiobook Obsession, a Facebook group for audiobook lovers and romance. What follows is my honest opinion on what I've listened to. There was no compensation made for this review.

The Haunting of Hillwood Farm is equal parts spooky and romance. There were scenes that I was genuinely feeling the shivers over. One scene in particular, but I don't want to go too into depth because it will spoil everything.

The romance was well written and the intimate scenes are okay with little ears around. I accidentally forgot to stop my audiobook in front of my son. He didn't start asking questions, so it was good.

I loved that the main issue, aside from the ghostie problem, was an internal one. The story didn't focus on a non-believer and believer dynamic, but the personal struggle on whether or not a relationship was something either of the characters wanted.

All in all, the book was well written and I was definitely rooting for the two. They have great energy between them and it made for a good spooky romance. I would love to see this in a Hallmark movie.

A haunting paranormal romance.

I really enjoyed the intense haunting and the various ways that contact was made during this well written paranormal romance. Many of these haunting events were frightening and some were downright horrifying. I cannot go into too many details of The Haunting of Hillwood Farm without giving spoilers but the story was an edge of the sea, nail biting one exciting one with a great ending.Ms James' narration was outstanding. There were many characters to voice and each voice was easily recognisable and showed the emotions of the characters.  The story was an intense one and this was reflected in the narration. The mixture of Kathryn Knight's writing and Ms James' narration came together to produce a fabulous audiobook.

Creepy Ghost Mystery/Romance

Cassie did not want to seek out ghosts, but sweet old Alice was insistent that she come to her house and see if she can communicate with the ghost of Alice's recently passed husband. But Cassie soon realizes that it is not Alice's husband haunting the house, but instead it is another spirit with much sinister motives. Luke does not believe in ghosts and wants Cassie to leave his grandmother alone, but when he gets to know Cassie he realizes that she intrigues him, even when he thinks she is lying. But soon things are happening that Luke can't explain and the two need to team up to really understand what is going on.

This is the second audiobook I have listened to/read by Kathryn and I appreciate her stories. She creates scary atmosphere and great character dynamics, making her books really enjoyable and fast reads. This story was roughly 5.5 hours in length, allowing this to be perfect to listen to in a single afternoon. Kathryn makes her ghosts scary, building my tension and keeping me on the edge of my seat, while at the same time the scenarios are realistic, as if this story could really happen. I appreciate her storytelling qualities, while at the same times reminding the reader that this is still very much a romance too. Kathryn walks a nice line between a horror ghost story, a surprising mystery and a sweet romance- all three genres I love and mesh so well together. I am pretty sure that I am sounding like a fan girl at this moment but I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait to get my hands on another scary romance audiobook written by her.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Kristin, was fantastic, keeping me engaged in the story and the drama the entire time. The view point switched between both Callie and Luke and the narrator was able to give them individual voice and personality. I am sure that this would make a great read in general, but listening to this story really made me feel like I was watching it all unfold in front of me, as if I was part of it. I highly recommend picking this one up as an audiobook.

Wonderful ghost story

This is the first book I've read by this author and I was blown away! I read it one sitting and then turned around and listened to the audiobook. Both were excellent and attention grabbing.
A spectacular story with just the right amount of ghost, romance and mystery, it started off with a bang and kept that pacing the entire story.

Callie is a young woman who, after a tragic accident, now has the ability to speak to ghosts. She is contracted by the recent widow of Hillwood Farm to help speak to her late husband. Add in a skeptical grandson and jilted lover and you have a great ghost story.

Amazing Story with a Wonderful Narrator

Kathryn Kight was a new to me author a month ago, however, in that month she has quickly grown into one of my favorite authors.
The Haunting of Hillwood Farm is a fantastic story that will keeping you needing to know more. You will want to know who is causing the havoc and what they are going to do next.
You will fall in love with the relatable and realistic characters and have a few great laughs with them as well.
The Narrator of this story is one of the best I have ever listened to.
I hope you will enjoy this 5 star story as much as I did!

Ghosts, Romance, and Mystery...

A spectacular balance of ghost story, romance, and mystery. Listening to this on audio in October was a lot like listening to someone tell ghost stories around a campfire. This book was so much fun, I want more. I am now an official fan of Ms. Knight's romantic ghostly tales. I will be grabbing another one of her adult ghost stories the next chance I get.

Great romantic haunting story

This was an excellent ghost haunting story. The story gets into the action right away. This narrators voice really made me feel these haunting as if they were happening to me. Her different voices for the different characters were perfect. This is the story of Callie who, after a tragic accident, can now hear and see spirits. There is a ghost haunting Mrs. Turner's farm. From a reference from a friend she reaches out to Callie. As Callie tries to help her Mrs. Turners grandson Luke at first thinks she is a scam artist. The thing is Callie isn't asking for money. She just wants to use her new gift to help. The mild hauntings get worse as Callie is in the house and soon no matter where Callie goes she isn't safe. They get more deadly the closer Luke and her start to become once he realizes she isn't a fraud. This story had me on the edge of my seat. I loved it. A truly great romantic supernatural story.

Obsession

Callie steps into a different world when she comes to Hillwood farm on the bequest of Alice Turner the family matriarch. Alice and her grandson Luke have had frightening experiences that can't be explained.
Callie started experiencing physic episodes after an horrific accident so Alice seeks her out for help. Like on the other hand believes that everything that has happened has a logical reason. Like us suspicious of Callie from the start. The spirit that is causing the destruction takes offense to Callie being there and sets out to get rid of her.
The entity decides to take things to the next level when it follows Callie home and that's when things escalate. The closer Like and Callie become the more dangerous the entity becomes. The secrets that are held can be the destruction of all. This book is so well written that I could not stop listening I had to know what was going to happen next. Well worth the price it is definitely a keeper.

The Haunting of Hillwood Farm is the first book I've read but Kathryn Knight. I 'm glad I gave it a chance (I almost turned it off after hearing the narrator's breathy/"Spooky" introduction. More a mystery than a romance The Haunting of Hillwood Farm brings together a lot of fun elements. Although I did figure out who the malevolent ghost was, how they died and where their body was I didn't expect how they got there so that was fun. Overall a fun listen once I tuned out the narrator and just listened to the story.

I received the audiobook for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
