Summary

I'll do anything to save her.

A woman I've never met, whose name I don't even know, gambled her own life to protect my child. In return, she was taken by a madman.

I'll put my career, my security, and my life on the line to get her back, even if it means facing the truth about my own mistakes.

The only thing she can't trust me with...is her heart.

Good action story

What did you like best about this story?

I really loved how the story was centred round the rescue of the hostages on board the ferry. It reminded me of Hollywood action movies. I would have been happy for the novel to end shortly after the conclusion of the hostage situation but it switched direction and went down hill from here on out for me; with chapter upon chapter of sex, which I thought were unnecessary and could have been shortened or left out completely The hospital scene was particularly ridiculous.

What about Stephen Dexter and Susan Fouche ’s performance did you like?

I liked the dual narration. I liked the narration better when I played the book on a higher speed setting.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book for it's action and suspense but not the romance.

Great Story

I loved the book. It flowed well. I think the narrators did a good job. I enjoyed it. My son heard some of it while I was reviewing it and he goes mom that is the cleanest book you've listened to in a long time. He was impressed that there was a long time between sexy scenes as he calls them.

Suspenseful Romantic Suspense!

This is the first book in the First to Fight Series. Wow! I loved it! This is a great Romantic Suspense! Gabe and Chloe's story is suspenseful, action packed, and filled with twists and turns. They are both great and strong characters, very protective and caring. The secondary characters are also great. Stephen Dexter and Susan Fouche did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed listening this story. Now, I can't wait for the next book in the Series, Warrior.

An Intense Story

I have loved everything I have read by Nicole Blanchard and this book is no exception. It has all the qualities I look for in a romantic suspense book and the author does it well. From the first chapter I was pulled into the intense action of the story. Ms. Blanchard had me on the edge of my seat as the suspense plot developed. Every time it looked like things were going to work out, more danger reared it's ugly head. This story is loaded with action, suspense, plot twists and sexual attraction.
Gabe is a former military man who adores his little girl, but his ex-wife, not so much. A man not looking for more than a one-night stand and to volunteer with the Coast Guard. Enter Chloe, who saved his ex and his daughter from danger. A woman unlucky in relationships but also not looking after her last heartbreak. The situation the couple is thrown into is compelling and intense, as is their attraction to each other.
I listened to this book and was gripped by the gravely, sexy voice of Stephen Dexter as Gabe. His voice pulled me into the story and the immediacy of the action of the book. Susan Fouche brings a wide range of emotions and passion to Chloe and the dual POV makes the book a dream to listen to. I'll definitely be looking for more books by this author and these narrators

Fast paced and full of action!

This is a fast paced action book! I was immediately sucked in and was WOWED more than once! The story is wonderful and I was easily hooked. The characters make this what it is. They are serious, fun and have an element of danger to them. I was surprised at how quickly a relationship occurred between the two main characters but I suppose a tense situation could do that.

This is a new to me author. I loved her snappy writing and lively characters. I listened to this on audio and Stephen Dexter and Susan Fouche (new to me) did an amazing job with all the excitement etc in their voices. That definitely added to the thrill of listening to this book.

Loved it!

What a thrilling and engaging story this was. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning all the way until the end. It was full of suspense, danger, murder, romance as well as an unexpected twist or two. I can't believe this book sat in my library for over two years before I actually listened to it. Now I just want to listen to all of Nicole Blanchard's other books. I just loved both Chloe and Gabe. Both were such strong and compassionate characters who would put themselves in danger to protect or save other people. Stephen Dexter and Susan Fouche both did a great job bringing this story to life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic suspense.

Incredible romantic suspense!

Nicole Blanchard delivers with this highly suspenseful romance! Chloe is boarding the ferry to go on assignment when a gunman takes charge. Getting the small child off the boat, Chloe is taken hostage. Not being able to stand by and wait, Gabe, a search and rescuer and father of the rescued child takes matters into his own hands. But what he finds on the ferry is not what he expects! Will he be able to save the passengers and Chloe? And is their attraction to each other real? This is fast paced, high action and that kind of romance that you just fall for! I loved the twists and turns it took, the wonder of why it was happening, the high thrills of survival. It's one of those quick listens that leaves you wanting more!

Stephen Dexter and Susan Fouche are an amazing team with the narration of this. Dexter has that strong, alpha sound with his voice, and Gabe is just that personality. He pulls it right into the action and makes you feel it happening. Fouche is very versatile and with this role gives Chloe a strength beyond compare. She tunes into her and makes her realistic. Together the action is felt and the chemistry is palpable. A wonderful listen!

4.5 Thrilling Stars!

This fast action, suspenseful romance will have you on the edge of your seat! Chloe is a travel agent taking a ferry to Rockaway Island to look at some property. She has survived a bad breakup and now realizes she deserves better. Gabe is retired from the marines and is back in Florida volunteering for the Coast Guard to be close to his young daughter, Emily. When Chloe helps protect a little girl from being taken hostage on the ferry by a gunman, she becomes his main hostage. Emily is that little girl and talks her Dad into rescuing the beautiful woman who saved her life. So begins this thrilling ride with all it's twists and turns that keep you engaged and turning the pages. Chloe was no Damsel, she was a fighter and stronger than she ever imagined, with a clever snarky side as well. Gabe is smart, calm and in his element, improvising as things and people became unpredictable. They make a great team in an extremely stressful situation. As they go farther out to sea with a bloodthirsty gunman out for revenge, will they be able to survive and make it back alive? This short story was so well crafted and had a depth that was truly satisfying. I felt like I really got to know Gabe and Chloe, they felt genuine and honest and I really cared for them.
Narrators Stephen Dexter, Susan Fouche were amazing as they brought this thrilling, provocative, and sexy story to life. They made the twists and turns even more exciting, taking my breathe away. I am a huge fan of Stephen Dexter's narrations. He is always so animated, which I love, making my heart race, along with time, for Gabe to save the hostages. I also loved his voice for Emily, it was so adorable. Fouche brought the heartbroken Chloe out of her shell and made her into the courageous, survivor she really was so beautifully. Together, they made this already exhilarating story even better!
