Summary

Zed is a washed-up MMA fighter who is starting to realize that there isn't much of a future ahead of him. While hitting the bar with friends to forget his sorrows for a while, he meets an attractive woman who has an interesting story for him—aliens are going to take over the solar system in two years.

Thinking that she is either crazy or he's had a few too many, Zed writes her off—until she shows him things that aren't possible, including healing his chronic injuries and showing him what she actually looks like (hint, not human).

There is no stopping the takeover, but humanity is going to be sent to an already populated planet, and will have to find a way to survive in a hostile world. A few humans will be sent ahead to prepare the way, to give humanity a chance. They are the Forerunners.

Good premise, bad execution.

I really like the premise of the book and litRPG elements. Author actually made an effort to explain where those numbers and mana/stelar energy come from which is welcome change from many other works litRPG genre.

I had few issues with the sorry and writing:
- book reads like a shopping list or a to do list and although I think the narrator didn’t do the book any favours, I think it was mostly due to the writing.
- There doesn’t seem to be any consequences to the MC actions. He makes multitude of self admitted mistakes but everything works out in the end with out any repercussions. It feels like MC can’t do wrong because when he does get things wrong it still beneficial in the end.
- It fees like there is no big challenge to the MC despite the fact he has some daunting things to accomplish. Before reader have the time to contemplate how the issue can be approached, MC already breezed past it.
- Main female character is initially portrayed as tough fighter and is spoke of as strong independent woman yet somehow constantly is depicted crying for this reason or the other and needs to be saved by the MC.

I think this book is squandered opportunity for a good story. I finished the book but I did struggled towards the end. I don’t think I will continue with the series but I might give the author another try in the future.
