Summary

A few minutes ago, Meghan Moretti's biggest concern was getting the kids' athletic clothes washed in time for practice this evening.

Now, it seems that Earth has been forced into participating in some high-stakes intergalactic reality television. All electrical wiring has been slagged, and most combustibles neutralized. Some kind of evil space rodents are appearing on the front lawn, too.

Like any parent, Meghan's first instinct is to keep her young kids safely away from the monsters, but an odd stroke of luck has her coming into some advanced information about this dangerous game. She learns that her kids will have to fight too.

What's a mom to do?

Time to Play is the beginning of Apocalypse Parenting, an apocalyptic LitRPG saga.

Nerdy Mum of 3 verse the apocalypse.

The world is ending, an announcement comes in that everyone gets a super power! Instantly this mum knows what’s most important! She’s got to stop her young kids picking something ridiculous, like her 3 year old bringing her soft toy to life!

It’s like Dungeon Crawler Carl, but focused around a mother of 3. Kind of like the film the quiet place. The speed of the destruction is slowed down so there is enough time for the fun kids, it’s more like stephen kings writing of Urban Americans. I enjoyed it and it was funny. There wasn’t the intrigue of the politics of the galaxy, but it’s written as hard science fiction so may be that will come latter. Looking forward to the next book.

As a parent i empathise!

I felt i had to write a review about this book, i cant believe how few there are, this is a gem of a LitRPG, far more about the small day to day struggles than the big theatre of world politics and power.
How to kill monsters whilst stopping your kids kill each other with powers is just one of the dilemmas that faces the main character.
It introduces the issue of how to survive when you have others relying on you and looking upto you and when they are acting like ....children, any parent into LitRPG will love this and those who aren't parents this is a top class story about what happens when the powerhouses are off fighting somewhere else.
