When Rick Hoffman loses his job and apartment, his only option is to move back into - and renovate - the home of his miserable youth, now empty and in decay since his father's stroke.

Good read

Enjoyed this as with all this authors books but didn't think it as good as his previous novels.

You can see string everywhere

First the good, yes it entertaining and fast paced. Joseph Finder is a great technician but for this one he forgot to use the heart or give heart to some of the characters, some of the lines at the beginning of the book are so cynical and sarcastic it makes you wonder why you should care for the main character. thank god or the writer he develops some likeability in the end. but do not investigate or expect too much logic. this is a book where people go in the basement and turn the lights off, or forget they are being threatened. and go for a walk in a back alley.
A good page turner with too much formula and not enough reality.

The reader of this book is great when it comes to men, but please do not let him do female voices, he is atrocious.

Decent story

Rather original plot, and decently written. I missed the "must know what will happen next" feeling though.

Really enjoyable thriller

I really enjoyed this. There is a great background crime journalism thriller but also good to see the character develop and realise he's lost his way in life. This would make a good film...reminds me of a John Grisham novel
