Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Enter Hayes Whitley. Mega-movie star. The man who has captured the hearts of millions. But I gave him mine years ago. He was my first love. He was my everything. Right until he up and left to chase his dreams without so much as a simple goodbye. When he showed up out of the blue 10 years later, I should have known to steer clear. I should have rejected his offer to take me to my ex's wedding and told him he was crazy when he suggested we act like a couple to show my ex, it's true, I could do better than him.

Story
At first, the request seemed simple - sign a new athlete to the agency. Then I found out the new athlete was none other than the most wanted man in hockey today: Hunter Maddox. Gifted. Sexy. At the top of his game. And the only man who has ever broken my heart. If signing him will help save our family business, I’ll swallow my pride and do what’s asked. But when it becomes clear his uncharacteristic antics off the ice are a hint of something deeper, keeping things strictly professional between us becomes more than complicated. But I know better than to cross that line.

Agreeing to meet Ryker Lockhart is my first mistake. Rich, handsome, and more than intriguing, he thinks blackmail will bend me to his will. But he’s wrong. I may have done a few things that weren’t exactly legal, but I have my own reasons for that. The last thing I’m going to do is let some high-powered divorce attorney come into my life, have my body, and rule my heart. Not to mention ruin everything that I have carefully built in just a short amount of time.

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville - at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade ring in my ears every time a towns-person brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again. Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons - sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer.

It's a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you've seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I'm successful, if I'm able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job. But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number 10, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell? Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart....

Summary
After an unexpected twist of fate, All-Star catcher Easton Wylder is left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.
Even the woman who shares his bed, Scout Dalton.
But if Easton thought being uprooted to the last place he expected was the only challenge life had to throw at him, he was dead wrong.
With an ailing shoulder and his career in limbo, his decision to make an unexpected change leads him to question everything - Scout's love, family loyalties, and whether he can conquer the one obstacle he's never been able to overcome. The secret he's never shared with anyone.
He may be a man pushed to his limits, but he's hell-bent on proving his worth no matter the cost.

In my eyes better than book 1
Book 2 in the Player duo and my heart goes out for Easton Wylder. If I hadn't have fallen in love with him in The Player, I'd definitely be head over heals in love with him after reading The Catch. The Catch answers all the questions I didn't realise I had from the previous book, it put the whole story in perspective for me and also added a little angst and challenge to the chemistry emitted by Easton and Scout. Covering some sensitive issues that had me snivelling quietly into my hankie, K Bromberg has given me everything I felt was missing in book 1, and I finished the book with a smile on my face, happy that I decided to finish the duet (I was in two minds after the first book, which yes, I thought was good, but I needed to feel more, book 2 gave me that feeling, you know the one, where is this book going and why can't I stop reading). Again told in dual POV with wonderful characters, an excellent story, lovely writing and lots of passion. This book cannot be read as a standalone, book 1, The Player should be read first. Perfect narration. I love these guys.

5 The Catch Stars
I am left with a full heart after this book.
I said it before I am not a fan of cliffy’s and well that still holds true but… wow these books were phenomenal I can forgive the cliffy. ;)
Easton really surprised me in this book, because I felt in the first book he held back so much. With this book he let it all hang out, sure he took time for himself when needed and I can’t fault the guy for that he had to work through things on his own before he could let Scout in.
Phew and Scout she was awesome she let Easton have the time he needed and she would seek him out when she knew he needed that too. She really goes through a lot in this book more so because of the health issue her father was having. You see her struggle and I liked that Easton was there for her when she needed him. Very much liked that she was there for Easton without judgment that was a surprise to me and it made me like her all the more for it.
What a great end to a two book series, it tied everything up but still left us with so much to think about. A full heart.
Total fan of the narration too both Andi and Joe have that special something that brings this book to life in our ears. I can’t think of a better duo to have done this book justice.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Cliffhanger is worth it
Although the first book ended in a cliffhanger which annoyed me at first this book quickly became worth the cliffhanger! Such a great romance and I was rooting for Easton and Scout the whole time. Most importantly, Joe Arden & Andi Arndt knocked this audio out of the park which made the whole experience even better for me!

Don’t judge a man until...
... until you’ve walked a mile in his moccasins. That’s the moral I took from this story.
Right up until the moment Easton confessed to Scout his huge secret I was angry with his behavior towards her and was referring to him as a “man-child”, and wondering what the hell such a well-put-together woman was seeing in him. Then it all became clear, and I felt like such an @$$hole. I thought he was being a typical alpha male jackass, and then I felt like the jackass.
This was a good story, made so much better by such an awesome team of narrators; Andi and Joe are at the pinnacle of their profession.
It was more than a romance; but the love scenes were really hot, too. I’ve noticed now that Kristi writes a kind of physical and emotional intimacy that makes me cry and want what she describes for myself, an incredible level of articulate closeness that just blows the mind and wrecks the heart. I find it easy to empathize with what the lovers are feeling and saying to each other, the way she writes it.
The only reason I didn’t give the story part of this 5 stars is because I’m trying to save my 5-star ratings for things like War & Peace or Dune.

Great book 2 of the duet
I really enjoyed listening to this book and in fact, the series. There was a bit much of angst for poor Easton- my goodness, he couldn't get a break. But I loved that while the prior book ended with Easton really upset at Scout, the story quickly progressed and generally, they really tackled issues as a team. It was a well written, emotional story that highlighted the importance of forgiveness and moving forward in life, even if it's not the way you imagined your life would play out.
Andi Arndt really has the best male voice for a female narrator. I really enjoyed her narration as always and find her pacing and her control of her voice truly fantastic. Joe Arden also was great- he has such a smooth voice that makes any of his readings easy to listen to. Great cast, great story.

Amazing conclusion!
What an amazing conclusion to The Player, book 1 in this amazing duet.
Scout and Easton stole my heart. Even when things got though, they stuck it out and worked through it. They are such a strong couple and I couldn’t love them more. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I didn’t see coming. I loved these characters so much, I was sad to see it end.

Not what I thought by the description
So the description makes it sound like the story is being told by the male about this awful betrayal but the female is doing 90% of the narration. Not that I don’t love Andi Arndt but thought we’d hear more Joe Arden as it was supposed to be his story. The story itself was ok.
