Summary

Some people just can't stand each other. Kayla and Evan are definitely some of those people.

It's annoying enough that they are plane partners and have to sit next to each other through the entire flight to Italy for their senior class trip, but things go from bad to worse when their plane makes an emergency stop. Their lives unexpectedly change as soon as Kayla follows Evan into a dark corridor and, right after, things just escalate from worse to tragic.

“I won't begin to suggest that I know what you're feeling, but I know what it feels like to love someone who doesn't love you back.”

To add icing to Kayla’s wretched cake, she finds out that that Ben, her perfect boyfriend, isn’t so perfect after all and has been hiding a basket full of dirty secrets from her. Dead set on getting back at him, she turns to the only person she thinks who is just as hurt as her and crazy enough to sign up and play along with her plan - Evan.

“Be my fake boyfriend, Evan Winters. I promise never to love you, care for you or...well...you get the idea.”

But they’re just pretending. Except when one of them is suddenly isn’t....

A freak storm, stolen chickens, a language barrier, and a big adventure. The senior trip of their life. But will they ever be the same people once they go back?

Find out in this unexpected romantic comedy that has Kayla and Evan butting heads as they meet interesting people, end up in jail, learn valuable lessons, and experience heartaches, and new beginnings - together.

The best part of an audio is here

This is a YA story that will have you on the edge of your seat. There are many levels and by that I mean lots of action and anticipation with what will happen next . Holly writes about what any teenager goes through, trying to fit in at school . Trying to connect with all the cool kids . Who do you follow.

Heroine is Kayla. Hero is Evan
I’m reviewing this as part of audio book obsession and the view is my own
Evan and Kayla has always been eating away at each other . Kayla has only eyes for her boyfriend. Until she finds out what her boyfriend is all about . Something happiness , a tragedy that will bring Kayla and Even together, they depend on each other to help those that can't. Because of that , they start to bond strongly .

Sarah performance was great . Her tone for each character was great. Her voice brought justice to the audio

Best part of hello

3.5 I thought that this was an ok story. The characters had to go through a lot trauma and drama before their "i want you" moment". I felt like the story was just getting to The romance when it ended.
The narrator did a good job with the characters and accents.

Intriguing story

What a captivating story. Their senior class has to deal with a weather tragedy while on a class trip in Italy. Enemies to lovers romance. I love the characters. The narration was great. HEA. I just wish their would have been an epilogue. I recommend this book.

Totally enjoyable with great narration.

Sarah Sampino brings these characters to life beautifully.

I love the set up of this story. It made me chuckle so much as I watched the things they got up to. I really enjoyed how the characters interacted and how they grew and changed throughout the story. Really enjoyable.

I loved this story

The Best Part of Hello was my first Hollie Armstrong novel. This clean YA novel held my interest until the very end and I very much enjoyed the story. The characters were likable and very much relatable and it was interesting to see their development after the situation they were thrust into. This novel included both enemies to lovers and fake relationship tropes into one fascinating story. I enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to all lovers of YA romance.
The audible version of this story was narrated by Sarah Sampino. She did a fantastic job with the narration of these characters. She was  able to portray varying voices and personalities for the different characters and really brought the story to life. I absolutely loved listening to her narrate this book.

UNEXPECTED

I am not sure what I expected when I started this book. But my expectations were blown away. This book packed a whole lot in just 6 hours. The story flew by so fast. I started it in the evening, and before I knew it, it was midnight. Holy moly. Terrific ride. Wow, there were some people I wish I could have slapped. I was highly entertained, engrossed and had so much fun listening to this book. It has a little of everything. I love Evan. I love Kayla. The characters in this story are just multifaceted and easy to picture in your mind. What a class trip. I'm sure it will go down in the school's history. This book is a must listen.

Sarah Sampino really brought out the characters and just added another layer to the story.

Good story

I enjoyed listening to this story. Evan and Kayla don’t really like each other.... or do they? The storm while they are on their school trip brings all of the students together in a way they don’t expect. Kayla’s boyfriend and Evans girlfriend... well... they’re not nice. The plan to pay them back goes forward, but when they return home... things change in a way they don’t deal with well.

I love the way the story develops and the characters as well. It’s my first Hollie Armstrong listen/read... but it probably won’t be the last.

Background Noise

This was the first book I have listened to that I could truly hear background noise, other than the narrator herself. Birds, doors and other noises. The rest of the narration was good. Enough differences in the voices that you could tell who was talking most of the time.

Some of the airport scenes seemed a little far fetched for me, since this is a contemporary with teens. I did absolutely love all the little almost hidden meanings behind several different scenes and events within the book.

A Cute YA Story

A clean YA romance. The characters are likeable and relatable, especially for that age group. I really enjoyed watching the characters grow into their feelings and learn how to deal with tough situations. This seemed kind of like it was written as an enemies to lovers but felt more like a friends to lovers romance. Well written sweet story!

I have listened to a couple of this narrator's performances and have been impressed with each of them. She gave an excellent performance for this book as well and was able to exhibit the various emotions the characters go through.

I received a review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Finding love through a disaster....

This was an interesting listen. It’s definitely the first time I’ve listened/read anything like it.

Kayla and Evan are neighbors and pretty much grew up next to each other, but they can’t stand each other. When they go on a class trip, disaster strikes and these two become unlikely allies. I enjoy a enemies to lovers story and these two are just that.

Sarah Sampino did an excellent job narrating. I think she was a perfect fit for Kayla.

YA Romance

I don’t normally choose YA romances however I must say I did find this one interesting. I did feel as though it was a bit longer than it needed to be however I didn’t get bored. I was disappointed that there wasn’t an epilogue as I felt it ended a bit too abruptly for the lead characters for my liking. All in all though it was an enjoyable story. Sarah Sampino did an exceptional job with the narration. Her voices for all the different characters and accents were excellent and so well done.

Very enjoyable

Let me preface by saying that I am not a young adult, but nonetheless, I truly enjoyed this book. Tapping into the emotions from my teenage years, I felt Kayla’s desolation in finding out her boyfriend had betrayed her. I remembered the annoyance of that one boy who irritated to no end and wishing he would just disappear. I also felt the disappointment of a long-awaited for class trip to Europe, thwarted by disaster.

(The Mom in me read anxiously, wondering when those children would be able to get word to their parents that they were safe.)

In the meantime, … there was a whole lot of shenanigans happening during an emergency situation - no food, outside contact or real medical treatment.

I liked how the writer, Holly Armstrong, developed the relationship between the two adversaries, Kayla and Evan. Slowly, they began to trust one another, understand each other and form a bond. I don’t want to say too much and give away any spoilers but there were times when I grew a little frustrated and sad for the two of them. The Best Part of Hello is a romance, so you know there has to be a happy ending but when it finally happened, it came all too abruptly, making me wish for just a little bit more. For only this reason, I gave the book four stars. I felt it warranted an epilogue. After all the angst, I wanted to know what became of them five or ten years later.

I won a copy of the audiobook in a Goodreads giveaway. I absolutely adored the narrator. Sarah Sampino did a fabulous job with the various male and female voices as well as how she enacted the story.

Young Adult

The details of the story confused me a bit. There were too many times the story had to back track. I heard “3 days earlier” too many times. I kept thinking I must’ve missed something, but then I realize the story jumped forward and then had to back track.

When all the students were stranded at the airport, the characters kept alluding to something being wrong since there were no official authorities available, but it was never expounded on and then suddenly dropped.

I felt the narrator did an excellent job and it was still a decent YA book.

Well Written! With A Strong Lesson!

This book was exhilarating; very extraordinary! The author Holly Armstrong gave us excitement, heartbreak, death and pain, with a dash of harsh lesson to learn. It's very well written, Holly you paid attention to every detail.

Sarah Sampino did an AMAZING JOB!!! Sarah, you always give 150% to your work and it shows every time. Even your foreign language was spot on. You had this one all wrapped in a "Big Bow!"

I definitely will recommend this book to others. It's strong, with a lesson for many. 5-🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟's!!!

What a mess.

great story

I didn't care for the poor language. You didn't need to use the f word that much. There was repetitiveness in several parts that got frustrating. I stuck with it because I liked the story, just wish it didn't cuss as much. Sarah did an excellent job with her reading.

A Surprise

At first I had no idea where this story was going and I was a bit confused but as the story went on I loved the emotions of the characters. I would have loved for the story to continue and see the relationship develop more. I read Evan short POV story and it was neat to get inside his head.

Sarah is a wonderful narrator and I will be looking for more of her books in the future.

Intense

This story is intense.Going on a senior school trip should be fun, enlightening not fearful and full of tragedy. Kayla Has more experiences in life in that short time , than what she could handle. She started out as fun loving and adventurous, coming home broken hearted , broken spirited, and withdrawn. The Hollie Armstrong touches on the subject of depression and how getting help is important. She did an amazing job developing the story and building the relationship between Kayla and Evan. its a story of love , trust, betrayal, lies , hope and despair. Sarah Sampino narration is excellent in this story. She is a great voice performer, depicting all the emotions, accents and giving each character their own personality and bring the story to life. I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review

Surviving a storm

This was the first story I have had the opportunity to read by Hollie Armstrong and I enjoyed the young adult romance. It is a sweet enemies to lovers story that has a lot of twists and turns.

I listened to the book and Sarah Sampino's voice suited the young characters perfectly. She moves smoothly between characters.
