A begging to a slow romance

This book feels like a long intro, like the first book of a series commonly does, but this more so than others. The world that is being built is pretty cool though. Few things of consequence happen. The writing is good, but descriptions and inner dialogue sometimes halts the story in a way that sort of disrupt the mood. I have higher hopes for book 2, so this book is good enough for me to get the next one.

This book series is the bee’s knees. Beautiful writing, great characters, interesting story, amazing storyteller… Luther Corbois.... I mean, need I say more..?!

Why so underrated??!

There's a beautiful dynamic between all the characters, which is just enticing and delicious. I think the mother passing was a bit sudden, but also-- hard to come up with another way to suck you into the story. Henri, Teller, father. And LUTHER - the dynamic with Luther and the way they circle one anther and the tension that builds. Iconic. Very well written and very well thought out. I love and hate the main character because she does some crazy stuff but I also understand the crazy. Like it's actually so good.
