About this listen
When a princess is kidnapped by an alpha, war rages between the humans and the wolves. But soon, forbidden attraction starts to grow…
Princess Aurora longs to escape the castle and the marriage that has been arranged for her.
But on the night before her wedding, at a dog fight where captured werewolves are made to fight for sport, she spares the life of a young wolf. It puts her on the radar of the powerful alpha who was going to kill him. And it changes everything.
That night, when the alpha escapes, he kidnaps her and takes her to the rugged lands north of the border—where the once warring werewolf clans are beginning to unite. He thinks that she is the key to winning the war against the humans.
Critic reviews
"Duet narrators Zara Hampton–Brown and Shane East pair well together in this romantasy set in an alternative Scotland. Princess Aurora rejects a loveless betrothal in England, instead making a pact with a Scottish clan leader who is a wolf changeling. Hampton–Brown uses an arch tone and a British accent for Aurora, a jaded campaigner who must quickly absorb the intricacies of pack law. East slips on a growly Scottish accent for Aurora’s wolf compatriot, as well as all the other personalities populating the king’s keep. The pair’s many conversations are seamless in the duet narration. As Aurora and her wolf await King James’s ruling on their pact, Hampton–Brown and East build the political stakes and the undeniable passion between the two, making their love story a wild ride."
Invention of the world of the wolves was fascinating.

Another romantasy book tackled, another series officially started! 💝 This has been sitting on my current reads for a while but that’s only because I’ve been in the worst reading slump known to man and I couldn’t read anything to save my life. 😩 However, it seems like 2026 has been kind so far and has inspired me to finish this! Let’s not jinx my luck though 🥲🤞
Werewolves, clans, a mystery, ancient lore, an imminent war — this was fun! I LOVE werewolves in (urban) fantasy, there’s something so nostalgic about them. Must be my Team Jacob days… anyway! 🫣 This story was entertaining, tense, adventurous and also angsty, funny, and it had its romantic (and some more 🫦) moments. Aurora is a refreshing FMC, put in a position where she has to fend for herself and fight for her life. I liked how she’s not one of those characters who is incredibly strong and knows everything from the start. She’s a learner, someone who grows and even by the end of this first book, the development is evident. ✨
"It’s only a storm."
"Thanks for that. Very helpful."
Alright.. now onto the teams! 😂 I’ll be entirely unhelpful, I wasn’t even aware there would be a love triangle?? Apparently people are choosing and I’ll stay comfortably on team Callum for now because of the character development consistency! 🫣 aaaand all the beautiful moments we got here. Callum is so sweet, kind, and fierce. It’s actually one of the few times, I haven’t been annoyed at all with a MMC in a romantasy. It’s a win! I was just swooning. 😂 I’ll have to admit, Blake has his moments. Especially towards the end of the book! I wasn’t aware of the triangle-ness of this though but it does make sense, given where we’ve left off. 👀🤍 Blake intrigues me, a morally grey character — especially given his skills — always fascinates me so I can’t wait to see how his character develops in book two!
I feel like book two will delve deeper into the politics of this world, which I’m looking forward to! I’ll definitely be continuing with this series 💝🥰
