Summary

A wicked snowstorm had blown in from the north and the roads were a mess. Recently split from his one-time girlfriend, there was now nothing holding Cameron Decker here in the little backwater mountain town of Larksburg Stand. Time to get back to college, back to Stanford. Seeing a guy knee-deep in slush at the side of the road, he pulled to the curb and waved him over. The guy smacked his head getting in - knocked his watch cap askew. Only then did Cameron notice - noticed that the individual couldn't possibly be human.

Cameron decided to help his stranded passenger - a decision he'd soon come to regret. Along with his rust-bucket of a pickup truck, he was soon heading deep into space aboard an interstellar spacecraft. After the vessel crash-landed onto an alien world, he would now have to contend with a murderous droid and a slew of strange alien life forms. But it is the 45-foot tall killer beast - a Minal Loth - that will impact is life the most. Marooned, Cameron must keep his wits to survive long enough to find a way to return home - back to that little mountain town, and that girl, who he should never have left in the first place.

Exceptional book .. as always <br />

I most generally will not use one of my credits for any book less than 10+ hours long.
The only exception is any of Mark Wayne McGinnis's books. I have all the scrapyard series of books,so using one of my credits on this book was a no brainer.
There's something about his writing style that I really like. This book, joyfully, was no exception.
A great book by a great author.
The only complaint I have with any of his books is length. All of his books run at about 8.5 hours.
Which to me is a little to short. I always finish them in one sitting. So if your reading these reviews Mr Mcginnis please ad about 3 or 4 hours of additional story telling please, your books are done way to soon. I know you can do it without being repetitive.
Can't wait for a sequel.

fun easy satisfying.

I have followed MWM for a while now, read
the entire scrap-ship series and loved them all. This story is light hearted fun and simple. And honestly that makes it rather charming.

A fun, entertaining story!

I thought the main character, Cam, sounded a bit like a dufus in this story, although he wasn't really. Could be because of the way it was narrated though. Over all story narration was pretty good. Characters were a bit on the YA level. but I didn't mind. I loved the author's imagination the best, especially with the AI's and tech tools. Sometimes it's nice not getting involved with a deep complex book and just listening to an easy, fun, entertaining story for a change. I really enjoyed this one.

Great Story!!!

I thought this story was so well-written. This story took me on an adventure that I didn't want to end...I binged through this and the second book so quickly - wanting more! The world that he created was imaginative and really put you in that place. This is an author to keep an eye on! I am anxiously waiting for more!

A Fun Adventure

This just a fun story. Lots going on and the characters at likable and interesting. Nice to have a story you don't have to buy three or four books to finish. Enjoy the trip.

Nice start..started to shed detail. Including that will make it maybe 20 hrs plus. Thats ok though, it will be worth it..a talented writer.
