Summary

From the number one international best-selling author of Holy Island and Dark Skies.

Ryan's most explosive case yet...

It's been five months since a killer walked free, and DCI Ryan is preparing to leave Newcastle to hunt him down - this time for good.

But Ryan's plans are scuppered when events take a dramatic turn and he is forced to stay and face his past one last time or watch a friend suffer the consequences.

Amid the chaos, another killer is preparing to strike. When the Tyne Bridge explodes, Ryan's team are faced with a frantic race to uncover a deadly foe who won't stop until every bridge is burned, along with everybody on it....

Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunit set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

Another very good DCI Ryan Instalment

I'm a very big fan of this series, and of Jonathan Keeble as a narrator. Once again Ryan and his murder detective team are thrown into the midst of what initially seems like a terrorist threat, though it soon becomes evident that there is much more going on than meets the eye.
Surprised by the turn of events for Lucas, and it will be interesting to see how the story develops for young Jack Lowerson.
if you enjoy a fast paced murder mystery, then you'll really enjoy this series. Seven Bridges is a very creditable addition to the series, though I do think a few of the earlier instalments are better. That said, definitely worth a credit.
Jonathan Keeble fantastic once again.
Recommended.

Brilliant

LJ Ross has, once again, pulled it out of the bag with her latest DCI Ryan novel. She has the ability to create well drawn characters and extract just the right amount of tension within the fast moving plot. The narrator, Jonathan Keeble, adds another layer of quality to an already fantastic offering.

Great easy going story

probably factually incorrect in parts - I felt there'd be much more panic and heightened security if the bombs really did go off but thats the beauty of fiction and I enjoyed it never the less

Great story lines

I’ve listened to all of these books now and I’ve really enjoyed everyone of them. It may help that I live in the middle of Northumberland where the stories are set and not a stones throw away from most of them. Kielder, Heavensfield, Sycamore Gap. Can’t wait for the next story to come out

A bit too short!

L J Ross has done it again. I have enjoyed all the previous DCI Ryan books and couldn't wait to read this one.

The story goes back to Ryan's past toxic relationship with DCI Jennifer Lucas, who now has her claws into Jack Lowerson. That story runs alongside one that has someone calling themselves the Alchemist who is threatening to blow up Newcastle's bridges.

The story is fast paced and I thoroughly enjoyed it, though it is somewhat shorter than the other books. Nevertheless I can't wait for the next instalment.

Jonathan Keeble's narration was, as always, brilliant.

Great book and awesome narration..

Book 8 and I loved it as much as the others. I absolutely adore Ryan and Anna and Frank and MacKenzie and I felt so bad for Jack Lowerson. I knew Jack wasn’t guilty but I would never have guessed who really did it.

This was about the murder of Detective Inspector Jennifer Lucas AND I’m so glad she was killed. She was a horrible person.

And it was about the bombings of several bridges and “The Alchemist” wanting 2 million in bit coin paid to an account that the bomber had set up. And the Bomber? That was a really big surprise.

Only a couple of kisses and no F-bomb.

As to the narrator: I doubt very much that I would enjoy these books half as much if I’d just read them. Jonathan Keeble is a phenomenal narrator when it comes to all the different voices and the emotions when he reads.

Great plot twists

Author and narrator both deliver an excellent listen. I apparently became involved with the characters, based in my desire to smack the internal affairs person.

Another triumph from LJ Ross

No spoilers! But, for me, the main big bang at the beginning of Seven Bridges made me happy!! If you want to share in my joy of reading LJ Ross's Seven Bridges, and you've not read any Ross before, at the very least you need to begin reading with Cragside, Dark Skies, and then Seven Bridges. Trust me. However, personally, I recommend that if you are new to reading LJ Ross novels, you give yourself the gift of beginning with Holy Island, her first. Then read the rest in sequence. Even though it's not absolutely necessary, it will serve your reading enjoyment well. And, LJ Ross is a master storyteller, so if you feel "let down" at any point in a story... just wait-hold on. She never disappoints and you'll enjoy the many Aha! moments she creates. Loose ends are always tied-up nicely! I've only ever eagerly, and somewhat impatiently, awaited new works from the likes of J.K. Rowling, Dan Brown, Robert Galbraith, and Mark Dawson. LJ Ross resides among that group now! Do yourself a favor--read LJ Ross!

Love this Series!

I did enjoy this book the most recent in the series. I come from Newcastle so my enjoyment is enhanced because I recognize so many of the places in the books. Of course they still are great books even if you have never been there. The series has interconnected stories so I advise reading them in order. LJ Ross has created great characters and knows how to keep the tension mounting. She also is quite capable of delivering surprises you didn’t see coming.
