The Infirmary by L J Ross
I thought this was the next book in the series. For anyone who has read none of the series, start with this book. I had heard them all and was a little perplexed at first. However it is a story that was crying out to be written. It was extremely well written, as usual, and set a gripping and fast pace.
Well done Louise.

Feel cheated.
When I started to listen to this book, I was very confused. Why oh why? After reading 10 books would you expect to get number 11 only to find it is a prequel of sorts. It is advertised as book 11. Yet we know what happens to all the characters.
Im not a happy bunny. Feel robbed of a book credit.

should be book 1 not book 11
I have to agree with the majority of reviews of this book that it should be book 1 in the DCI Ryan series and not book 11. Unfortunately, if you have followed the whole series (and who wouldn't - they are addictive) this book is a disappointment. It doesn't follow on from book 10 - we know all the characters and what has happened to them throughout the previous 10 volumes. Very annoying. Having said all that, it is a great story in it's own right. Very exciting (spoilt by the fact we know what happens at the end)

This is FIRST Book in the DCI Ryan series
Audible have this book listed as Book 11 but it is really the first book in the series and should be numbered 0.5 I have thoroughly enjoyed the DCI Ryan series and especially following his progress and career so imagine the disappointment to find that you are back at the very first book which started the series off. The story is good as is the naration but such a disappointment that it is out of order.

prequel
this should be book number one in this series. I'm not sure why LJRoss did a prequel in the middle of this series, personally I don't think it was necessary. i didn't learn anything new from it. Saying that, it was good and odd course Jonathan Keeble is fabulous, but the whole time through the book I couldn't help but think, I know how this ends. I typically don't read the excerpts on the next book in this series, I just buy it and listen, I hope there's no more prequel's.
