Summary

Winter, 1361: Edward III has finally agreed a treaty with the captive French King, John II. In return for his freedom, John has ceded vast tracts of territory to the English. But the mercenary bands and belligerent lords will not give up their hard-won spoils to honour a defeated king's promises.

As he battles to enforce Edward's claim, Thomas Blackstone, once again, will face the might of the French army on the field. But this time there will be no English army at his back.

Yet another Glorious Gilman story

Master of War takes us once more alongside one of the greatest fighting men to ever grace paper. Thomas Blackstone is as fearsome as he is loyal and his men, all amazing characters too, are always ready to fight next to him.
David Gilman has the rare ability of being able to tell the story at a fast pace, while describing characters in detail, endearing you to Blackstone and his band of brothers... and he always educates the reader.
The Master of War series is a true historical fiction classic, and I have loved every single page .
So if you are looking for great books full of action and history, I would recommend any and all of Gilman's books.

This amazing series continues

Once again the story of Blackstone does not fail to impress.

Superb story telling by Gilman, with rich colourful characters that take you on a journey with Blackstone cleverly and brilliantly narrated by Mace.

Highly recommend this book along with all the others in the series- can’t wait for the next one.

I've listened to each of the...

...5 books back to back so far. I fortunately have the 6th waiting but sadly it's the last available. Easily the most enjoyable series I've ever listened to, and I count over 800 books on audible. The character is easy to like along with his men, and the author beautifully describes a man who above all values honour, loyalty and his friends...

They just keep getting better and better!

How the author does it I don’t know; improving on perfection!
The series is totalling enthralling; each book riveting from start to finish. Outstanding performance by both author and narrator.
