Truly superb. Epic fantasy on the grandest scale, expertly written by David Gemmell and an excellent performance by the narrator, Sean Barrett IS Druss! Can't wait to listen again.

the first book I ever read and still my favourite.
when I found out David Gemmell had passed it was a very sad moment in my life because there is no other writer like him. if you haven't reading this book would open your eyes to what heroic fantasy is really about.

The origin of the legend.
Despite already knowing the outline of the story from 'Legend' it's fascinating to hear the details of the saga of Druss and how he achieved the hero status he enjoyed in the previous stories.
A well crafted tale which could have been formulaic but avoids the major pitfalls to end up entertaining.
Well worth the time to listen.

A fantastic book.
If you're a fan of Gemmell then this is for you! A wonderful book. I first read these as a teenager and they have lost none of their engaging prowess over time.

Druss at his bone crunching, indomitable finest
Read these books years ago. It in someways highlights the short coming of audio over actually reading and living the adventure yourself. Maybe some forms of narration work better in audio books than others. But still a very enjoyable listen. I will continue to march through the series.
