Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Maria V. Snyder brings her Poison Study series to its exhilarating conclusion.

Despite the odds, Yelena and Valek have forged an irrevocable bond - and a family - that transcends borders. Now, when their two homelands stand on the brink of war, they must fight with magic and cunning to thwart an Ixian plot to invade Sitia.

Yelena seeks to break the hold of the insidious Theobroma that destroys a person's resistance to magical persuasion. But the Cartel is determined to keep influential citizens and Sitian diplomats in thrall - and Yelena at bay. With every bounty hunter after her, Yelena is forced to make a dangerous deal.

With might and magic, Valek peels back the layers of betrayal surrounding the Commander. At its rotten core lies a powerful magician...and his latest discovery. The fate of all rests upon two unlikely weapons. One may turn the tide. The other could spell the end of everything.

    "Really disappointing audio"

The narration for this book is poor. There are pauses where there shouldn't be, e.g. Councillor 'Pause' Bavol... and the narrators voice is flat, lifeless and hard to engage with. I'm a huge fan of this series and have waited a long time to hear Yelena and Valeks conclusion. I bought the audio book because it was released on Audible earlier than the UK paperback but will have to wait for the physical copy as I find my attention wandering with this version.

    "Dumbed Down :-{"

    In Book 1 of the Ixia Series, Poison Study, and the two books which followed, Magic and Fire Study, the character of Yelena was smart, competent and savvy, and I realy liked and admired her for her tenacity and courage, given everything she had been forced to endure. Unfortunately in the final three books, Shadow, Night and Dawn Study, clever Yelena has become a simpering idiot, and I seriously wanted to slap her silly, which would have been a vast improvement to the brainless bint she has become. The character of Valek has also turned into a spineless weed. Valek became one of my all time favourite male literary characters, when I first encountered him in Poison Study. But in the final three books, I just wanted to kick him in the *****. I don't know what happened but I am so disappointed with the final three books. One of the few high point was the fantastic narration, by Gabra Zackman. Indeed she was the only thing that kept me listening to the end. I waited a long time for this trilogy to be published, but I doubt I'll wait for any more, if they're anything like this. Not a Happy Kitty :-{

"Fantastic book following up on an awesome series"

fantastic book great narrator who offers lots of accents to differentiate the characters. the story line is standard poison study storyline. it does get a bit comical in parts about how many times people are 'rescued' from various situations but this book doesn't dissapointed and continues the story of Valek an Yelena beautifully.

"Absolutley loved the entire Poison Study series!"

Especaially this concluding book! I read the first three books, and listened to the last two. Now I wish i had the books to look back at! However, the narrator was amazing and I loved "hearing" Valek's voice and personality.

    "The Study Series"

If you have not had a chance to listen, please don't miss out. One of the best series available. The stories keep you engaged from beginning to end. And on the edge of your seat. The narrator is spectacular and so empathic to the characters.

    "Perfection"

Not only is Maria V Snyder my favorite author, but honestly, I would probably listen to Gabra Zackman read the phone book! I have loved following Valek and Yelena from the beginning, enjoying both the uniqueness and continuity of their stories and journeys through each book. Dawn Study did not disappoint. I went thru bouts of smiling, smirking, chills, dripping my jaw and yes, even tears in this one. Absolute perfection.

    "Disappointed"

This book seems to drag on more than any of the other books in the series. It is my least favorite of the series because of that. I kept waiting for it to end and I'm not sure why it just wasn't as cohesive as the other volumes.

    "Love this series"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! Definitely. I have suggested these books to several people because I love the series so much. The series is not a hot sex filled book which I usually prefer but it's a great series. If the book ain't sex filled then it has to be good for me to read the series. This one is. Well worth the credit. Snyder does a great job. I have read and reread this series!! Its one of my all time favorites. Yalena and Valek have a sweet romance that develops throughout the series. I love love love this series. Bring on more!!

Which character – as performed by Gabra Zackman – was your favorite?

Gabri Zackman narrating a book is almost always a sure buy! She's one of the best!!!

    "(Sigh)...thank you Maria V. Snyder!!"

I was ecstatic when I found out that Ms. Snyder was writing a final three books to continue and conclude the story of Yelena and Valek. I've adored spending time in their world...I've laughed, loved, grieved and wept along with each of these characters and the world-wind of emotions has been wonderful. Dawn Study is everything I have come to expect from the Soulfinders series.

The inclusion of the different character's perspectives was great...particularly Valek and Janco. It really helps inform and round out the story, and provides real insight from characters which could only to be guessed at in the earlier books. The only difficulty is the eight year gap between the books (I know that the Glass series filled in some of those years, but still...). All of a sudden Fisk is seventeen and Valek is in his forties (I think).

It's a wonderful second trilogy to this series and I couldn't be happier with the ultimate conclusion. Smiles and tears, laughter and anger - Ms. Snyder continues to impress with the world of her imagination. Bravo!

    "Glad it's over"

This was the best book since Poison Study. I can't say it was worth all the books to get to this point since I wish the books could have been condensed into 3-4 books but I am happy for the conclusion.

Kind of anti climatic considering the intensity of the series... and weird how it ended with a plot point that wasn't introduced until only the last book.

At the end of the previous book I thought this was the concluding book, but thought I was wrong At the half way point. By the end, I'm pretty sure there doesn't need to be more. Glad to have gone on the whole adventure.

If I had only read the first book I would have been just as happy, but after making it three books in, you have to finish the series and it's worth it.
