Story
An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

The bards are the people's voice and their sword. All over the kingdom of Deverry, the common people are demanding a change that will wrest power from the landed aristocracy: reform of the corrupt law courts. In the city of Aberwyn, the situation catches fire when the authorities allow the death of a bard from a hunger strike rather than hear the people’s protest. But things haven’t always been this way.

Am very much enjoying these books
I read these books years ago and could appreciate their worth, but was a bit confused, with the different time lines and how they fitted in to the whole, so I am delighted that audible have now put all 4 books into one package for one credit! Very good value! I can now give the stories a 2nd shot 15 yrs later with the help of the excellent narration, which moves along very fluently, and with the different character's voices making it a very entertaining listen. I think Ruth Urquhart does a marvelous job.

brilliant listen
I thoroughly enjoyed this tale, I was initially a little confused because there is a lot of jumping between time lines, but soon got the hang of all the characters. Absolutely nothing wrong with the narration, in fact the voices were very convincing. my only issue was that the recording wasn't the best, kept jumping a little and missing snippets of dialogue, but nothing to throw off the story, that's the only reason I cannot give 5 stars

A Joy. Thank you Katherine Kerr and Ruth Urquhart
I read these books multiple times. Every time Kerr wrote another I would start the series again so I would appreciate the new addition to its fullest. Sounds sad, I know.
It's not. Give these books a go, you won't regret it. Of course Urquhart narration gives a whole other dimension that I did not have back when these books were first published, so thanks to Audible and her excellent interpretation of the characters, I get to relive the joy of Deverry all over again. Ye Gods!
