The Council is the governing Coven over the Land of Five, a region entirely inhabited - and split apart - by witches with varying powers. Lilith Lace, a witch thought to be born powerless, happily resides in Ignis, the Coven of Fire, until she suddenly develops telekinesis, an ability only seen in some witches born in Mentis, the Coven of the Mind. She's terrified of it, unsure who she can trust. Her best friends, Helena and Clio, are hot and cold about what she can do, leaving Lilith even more unsure about her future.

Story
Centuries ago, the followers of the new gods defeated the old gods and the folk of legend, banishing them from the world of man. With their departure, magic faded from the land. The Milesian Accords had provisions for a new challenge, though, and the Exiled Gods have sent their minions back to our world to seek out a champion to fight for them and a druid able to wield the magic needed to fulfill the challenge. A descendant of the druid who participated in the original challenge, Liam Knox doesn’t know anything about the Accords or his ancestors....

Summary
Penta was a horseman of great renown - some might even say he was legendary. Now in his retiring years, he is ready to watch the setting sun from the porch with his wife of many decades. But when unexpected violence takes her and everything from Penta, he must learn how to survive as an unwilling vampire.
Set in the fantastical world of Kinthur and filled with magic and heroes, Penta’s journey will take him across strange lands and encounters with creatures of darkness and light. He must now find a balance between the man he once was and the growing darkness that now lives within him calling for blood and power.

Better than I expected
Another vampire book. Set in the past. Lots of peasants get munched on. But then... it takes a turn. Our vampire is kind. He’s a war hero. It is a better “lord” to his people than others. Magic is real, and he learns it. This is an involved tale that reads more like historical fiction than fantasy in many ways. It tells of good morals and good deeds. We mourn our vampires prior life even as we cheer for him is his struggle to live amongst some pretty evil people. I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a fair review

Great Story and Performance
As the headline states this was a great story and performance by the narrator. I wasn't quite site about it going in but was pleasantly surprised. the reason for the overall 4 stars is because there were a few bad places in the recording. One chapter where it starts off good then nothing but static. Don't know if I missed any part of the story or not. A 2nd place where the same paragraph repeats twice. But neither one of these issues take away from the story itself. Give it a whirl, you'll be glad you did!

Fantastic D&D world brought to life
This was a fantastic listen, the beginning was admittedly a bit slow in the beginning and the narrator was a bit dull at times, more so in the beginning. Over all I was drawn into the world and am looking forward to the next book he writes. This book is a great insight into both the heroes and villains of the story, it makes me want to write my own campaign world for my D&D games. I definitely recommend this book to any table top gamers above all, but this book is great from a fantasy standpoint as well.

Loved it didn't want it to end but Bad cover Art
This was a surprise it start a little slow but is interesting enough to keep you engaged. My only criticism is the cover art.I know the author write other books but please dont make me wait for two or three years before book two. If more then a year for a sequel i lose interest.
