Summary
Summer. Massachusetts. An old Silver Wraith with a frightening history. A story about one serial killer and his lingering, unfinished business. Anyone could be next. We're going to Christmasland....
NOS4A2 is an old-fashioned horror novel in the best sense. Claustrophobic, gripping and terrifying, this is a story that will have you on the edge of the seat while you listen and leaving the lights on while you sleep. With the horrific tale of Charles Manx and his Silver Wraith, Joe Hill has established himself as the premiere horror and supernatural thriller writer of his generation.

Yes! Loved this Audiobook in every way!
What made the experience of listening to NOS4R2 the most enjoyable?
The narrator was superb, fantastic gritty voice which really matched the atmosphere of the novel. Great characters, fantastic descriptive writing. Perfect!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved all of the characters because they were just so well written.
What about Kate Mulgrew’s performance did you like?
Wow, she has a fantastic gritty voice which matched the novel perfectly. I always say that a narrator can make or break an audiobook and she really did make this come alive for me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I have a long journey to work and this book made it bearable!
Any additional comments?
As you may be aware Joe Hill is Stephen King's son, this novel really has all the best elements of some of my favourite King novels- I didn't know when listening to it that there was a connection but kept thinking this guy could give Stephen King a run for his money. Great audiobook, pleasure to listen!

Enjoyable listen.
Didn't live up to my expectations. A good story, maybe I'd built it up to be more from the rave reviews I read. I found Kate Mulgrew's narration a bit annoying. Seemed like a lot of the adult characters had the same whiny high pitched voice as the children.

A good story - though not without its faults
Would you try another book written by Joe Hill or narrated by Kate Mulgrew?
After starting to listen to this book, I actually bought another Joe Hill book (Heart shaped box) - which was probably a mistake. The foundations of the stories were actually quite similar, so spoiled the experience of listening to NOS4R2. Kate Mulgrew was great, although sometimes a little too whiney.
Would you be willing to try another book from Joe Hill? Why or why not?
Perhaps - the story was interesting and drew the reader in. The quality wasn't consistent, and neither was the pace. In some places, the story was simply frustrating but in others, I was riveted. The ending could have been original and genuinely dark - instead Joe Hill went for the safer option. Disappointing.
Which character – as performed by Kate Mulgrew – was your favourite?
Charlie Manx - she brilliantly conveyed the sinister nature of the character.
Could you see NOS4R2 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
This could easily be translated to the big or small screen. I would love to see Jack Nicholson as Charlie Manx, with Angelina Jolie as Vick.
Any additional comments?
The similarities between Joe Hill's & his father's writing style are astonishing.

Classic Horror
Would you consider the audio edition of NOS4R2 to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version of the book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of NOS4R2?
The restoration of NOS4R2 and its return to the House of Sleep
What does Kate Mulgrew bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Kate Mulgrew brings the characters to life more than reading print.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listen on my journey to work and looked forward to the next instalment each time.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book to any fans of James Herbert and other writers of horror stories,

His fathers son.
Good listen overall and very entertaining. Narrator was good on the whole and I’d happily listen to more by the same narrator. This is the first Joe Hill book I’ve listened to and really reminded me of King in a good way. I’ll listen / read more of Hills work. A good listen.

Horror with a human Heart
5 Stars
Joe certainly has his father's talent but he showcases a voice which is entirely his although he does share his father's knack for dropping in a nod here and a wink there to each other's work. I would advise that you leave this until after you've read Doctor Sleep if you're planning to consume both though.
As for this book I love how Joe's managed to combine genuine horror with a touch of fantasy while still giving the story a solid human heart. The characters were believable because they were flawed and well fleshed out and Kate Mulgrew's narration was brilliant.
This won't be my last Joe Hill book.
