About this listen

Iron Man chronicles the story of both pioneering guitarist Tony Iommi and legendary band Black Sabbath, dubbed "The Beatles of heavy metal" by Rolling Stone. Iron Man reveals the man behind the icon yet still captures Iommi's humor, intelligence, and warmth. He speaks honestly and unflinchingly about his rough-and-tumble childhood, the accident that almost ended his career, his failed marriages, personal tragedies, battles with addiction, bandmates, famous friends, newfound daughter, and the ups and downs of his life as an artist.

Everything associated with hard rock happened to Black Sabbath first: the drugs, the debauchery, the drinking, the dungeons, the pressure, the pain, the conquests, the company men, the contracts, the combustible drummer, the critics, the comebacks, the singers, the Stonehenge set, the music, the money, the madness, the metal.

Great book but play at x 1.25 speed

Excellent insight in to the life of Tony and Black Sabbath. Highly recommended and entertaining read (lots of great old Sabbath stories)

I had been wanting to give this a listen for a considerable amount of due, finally I got to listen and it was a really great listen. Some of Tony's stories are hilarious and he speaks openly about about all the chaos that ensued from pre sabbath up until 2012 just before '13'.

This is definitely going to be recommended to all my friends and thank you to Tony for being such an influence of me and the rest of the world.

Very entertaining and incredible story of a legend

Wonderful history of Black Sabbath and his own personal life. Well worth a lasten for anyone mildly interested in either of those things.

Great listen for any Black Sabbath or Iommi fan.

Loved it. I'm a huge sabbath fan anyway but the 11 hours flew by. Sometimes accidentally funny (some lines are straight out of Alan Partridge) and sometimes plain hilarious (literally, some stories were the inspiration for spinal tap), this is was just loads of fun.

Alan Partridge mixed with Spinal Tap

I really enjoyed this, I learnt a lot from one of my favourite guitarist and band that inspires me to keep playing. I like how the narrator is one of Tony Iommi's friends and due to that it gives this narration more of a friendly vibe. I would recommend this to my fellow Metalhead friends.

Amazing book
