Summary

If you’re tired of being manipulated, then there are ways that you can stop the control others have over you. Whether you’re being tricked into doing things you don’t want or others are taking advantage of you, there are ways to stop manipulation and persuasion in its tracks.

This is the second audiobook in the Dark Psychology series. The first one gave a groundwork for what different types of persuasion and manipulation might be. This audiobook will take you through the process of using these tactics to your advantage.

The first half of the audiobook will discuss what makes up an individual. The way you use your body, the words that you choose to speak, and the way that your were raised all play important roles in what makes an individual. You will also have to look at your own self and pick out all of these unique things that make them different from everyone else as well.

There are psychological studies that back up the idea of certain methods of persuasion, such as NLP tactics, that prove that anyone has the power to persuade others.

In How to Analyze People, you will discover:

  • How to analyze other people
  • The power of your body
  • How your body language affects you
  • The power of your words
  • How to make connections
  • How to improve confidence
  • How to subliminally persuade others

Even if you feel like you already know how to use manipulation tactics to your advantage, there is still important information in this audiobook that will allow you to better persuade other people around you.

Although there are many differences among people, there are also many things that make us the same. In order to better analyze and understand those around you, it’s crucial to find those things that we do connect on and the things that bring us together rather than the things that tear us apart.

It’s important when listening to this audiobook, versus the first one, to remember that not all manipulation is bad. In the first audiobook, it was emphasized that those who might be manipulating you might also be taking advantage of you.

When listening to this audiobook, you should remember that manipulation is a tool, much like a hammer. You can either use that hammer to destroy everything around you, or you could alternatively use that hammer to create something organic, something new.

This audiobook will take you first through the discovery and analysis of those around you, and then it will provide different ways that you can persuade them.

The only thing you need before starting this audiobook is the willingness to change. You might have to confront some of your darkest issues, and you might have to put yourself through future scenarios that elicit a feeling of discomfort. In the end, however, you’ll find yourself to be much more self-aware and independent.

My introduction explained why I gave the rating. This is a book good for many people who must deal with others who may be untruthful. I think of employers, teachers, nurses. The list is almost unending.

Great for Everyone!

This book is great, it has lots of great information on basic and advanced body language "tells" that I would have never picked up had I not listen this book. It will prove to help me in my career, as well as my personal life. The body language tells in this book can help in different ways such as telling if someone is lying, if someone is excited, anxious or uncomfortable.

Very helpful guide!

This book is fantastic. A lot of what he says is common sense when you think about it, but the point is, you don't usually consciously think about it. A lot of great tips on what to look out for and what it could potentially mean, while at the same time warning you that they don't always mean what we might assume they do.

Highly recommended

I like the fact that the book is broken up into sections related to different parts of the body. He highlights that although we are often aware of body language related to the face and torso, some of our best clues to what someone is thinking or feeling can be found in the language spoken by the hands and feet.

As you learn more about what people are really saying, it will improve all of your interpersonal relationships, and maybe help you communicate your true feelings more accurately as well. There is too much important information to be adequately retained in a single listening.

This audible is one of the best!

I communicate with people so much better now. I feel like I have less miscommunication with people, whether I just met them off the street or have known them for years. I also pay attention a lot more. Sooo, a big thanks to the author. I thought I was good with people before, but I was able to get a job like it was nothing after listening this.

This was a great book.

This was an impulse buy that just tickled my curiosity. I am glad I bought it. Simply flipping through it yields insights and brings behaviors and non-verbal cues of others, and one's self, to awareness. Love this book!

It made a huge difference in my ability to evaluate the motives of others in their body language. When I went through the airport security, the fellow shared they used the book for training their reps. I have recommended it to several an shared what I learned.

Definitely recommend it.

I am grateful to the author for consistently cautioning the reader against mistaking expressions of discomfort for evidence of deceit, and for making the point that there is no universal "tell" for lying. Altogether a fast, enjoyable, and satisfyingly informative

I listen this book so truly

There's clearly thought out mantra's that hold fast throught the book that are easy to recognize, and the examples serve to accentuate his meaning. Some of the examples are a tad unbelievable, but, the power of these 'tells' is conveyed well.

It is very interesting

This was the first entry in my education regarding body language and I doubt the a better text could have been available. The writing is top-notch, with well referenced data. The book is pristinely clear that there is no 'lie' or 'truth' tell, but that you need to interpret everything in context.

Well-explained!

This book also helps you to identify body signals that you, yourself may unknowingly display. Together, it gives you a better understanding of where you are as you communicate with others.

A good starting point

I learned a LOT ... and vow to be far more observant - now that I'm alerted to what signs for which to watch. This book made people-watching a much more 'telling' experience. `very glad I listen it. I suspect that you will be, too.
