Summary

A past she can’t remember. A secret he must keep hidden. A passion they never saw coming.

Ten years ago.

That was the last time I knew peace, family, sanity.

But after they came for me - everything changed.

Now, I live my life as an outcast, hiding among the shadows of each new city. Every move I make is a risk, and I’m fully aware that I’m only one wrong turn away from certain death.

When I find myself trapped between an enormous wolf and the monstrous shaded creatures that have been hunting me for the last decade, it seems my time is up.

Except, it isn’t.

My beastly savior shifts into a not-so-mortal man. He claims to be King Alpha of the Blueblood pack in Detroit, and he has a deal for me: Marry him and become his mate, and he’ll offer me more freedom and protection than I could ever have on my own.

Sounds too good to be true, which usually means it is, but I’m in no position to refuse this overbearing, dominant, ridiculously handsome warrior.

So, I make a choice.

On the surface I’ll play his game and be his wife. But behind the scenes, I’ll use his resources to find out the truth behind who I am and what he really wants from me before he can get it.

Great start

Annalise has a secret she must keep hidden and she’s lived as an outcast for 10 years , now she finds herself between a sexy alpha wolf and an hideous shaded monster . The Alpha king of the Blueblood pak in Detroit has offered me his protection , the catch is I have to marry him , ok I’ll play along whilst plotting behind his back to find out who I really am. Really enjoyed listening to this the story was great and the characters drew me in , Sommer Hines narrated perfectly.

A Great Listen

Sommer Hines is a excellent narrator and brought the characters to life. I shall look out for her narrating other books

Heads up this book ends with a cliff hanger and it will make you wanting the next book. This story has mystery, betrayal and suspense. I loved the characters.

Intriguing shifter romance

This was a really enjoyable read that benefitted from being an audiobook.

The chapters alternate POV between Annalise, the FMC, and Elosel, the grumpy shifter who has vowed to marry her to save her from the shadow creatures that have been hunting her for years. I had to sift through so many reviews to find the spelling of Elosel as it's not written in the synopsis, so never say I don't do my due diligence!

The narrator does a great job distinguishing between the main characters and making the hero sound suitably masculine and grumpy. Her pacing was a bit quick at the beginning but I got into the swing of it quite quickly.

I'm not entirely convinced by Elosel's decision to marry Annalise, but what the hey - I don't mind overlooking some flawed logic if the action is good enough and it was certainly was! Anna is a strong main character who is intelligent, resourceful and handy in a fight. She throws herself into her new role as princess of the shifter and proves herself worthy of the title.

A lot of the issues that the main characters struggle with could be resolved easily if they actually sat down and had an honest conversation with one another every once in a while, which was borderline silly by the end but I still enjoyed this book enormously.

Addictive and exciting!

I loved this book, I was hooked right from the start, the characters were believable, and the world building excellent. The plot was intriguing with plenty of mystery, suspense and betrayal, and the FMC Annalise was interesting with a mysterious past she can't remember and hunted by an unknown predator. I'm definately looking forward to book 2, it can't arrive soon enough, the narration by Sommer Hines was fantastic and expressive.

Interesting & Enjoyable!

Her Shifter King is an excellent start to the Moon Cursed series. The series has loads of potential to be fabulous. I thought Bailey Dark did a great job with the world-building and character development. The storyline has the elements to keep the readers/listeners interested and entertained. However, certain parts of the story felt a bit rushed. Also, the book ends in a cliffhanger, which I didn't mind.

As always, I enjoyed Sommer Hines's narration. She emulated the characters and their emotions very nicely, bringing them to life. Overall, Her Shifter King was an enjoyable listen, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

meh..

this is listed as a paranormal romance but is actually a paranormal drama. this is the first book and is nothing but build up and this book ends in a cliffhanger. (not a fan)
the narrator had one voice for the male and female parts and that was confusing at times. also no real strong emotions came through in her voice
the story premise is very engaging however but personally I found too much build-up in the story with no release or break.

Enjoyable

Great story I couldn't put it down I had to finish it and when I did I didn't want it to be over. Bailey keeps it interesting with the flow of the story. I am looking forward to listening to the next book.

shifter king

A bargain of convenience for an unknown and a king. Their relationship was ambiguous and tenuous for most of the story until they learned about each other and developed a trust if sorts. I found it very disrespectful how many people treated the king. The ending took me by surprise and left me anxious. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

4 for performance, 2.5 for story

I guess this was ok. Listening to it got me through a tedious day of stripping wallpaper (and the narration was fine). But nothing about it stood out as exceptional in any real way. None of the characters were particularly well fleshed out, though I did like several of them. The world felt half-hazard and pieced together, though it had interesting elements. The plot was paper-thin, but not uninteresting. Unfortunately, it does end without anything being concluded. Some might call that a cliff-hanger, I call it just half a plot. But that's semantics. All in all a true "Meh" read if ever I saw one, neither horrible nor excellent. I MIGHT continue the series if I came across the next book for free, but I wouldn't spend money on it; if that tells you anything.

Very interesting and love the characters!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the book and found it an interesting and vivid take on a paranormal shifter romance. My one criticism is that it ends in a cliffhanger, I despise cliffhangers.
