Summary
For all that Jason knows, life is amazing. But he's about to learn that all his new power, wealth, and influence comes at a price.
Riding high on success, he and his team are looking to the future, preparing themselves for the challenges to come. Nothing, however, could have prepared him for the lessons his enemies have to teach. When magic is involved, the stakes can be even greater than life and death.
While Jason’s personal enemies make plans, the greater foes plaguing his new home have been pushed to the brink. With one powerful card left to play, they are on a collision course with Jason and his team. With no one to help and more than their lives on the line, Jason and his companions must fight with more monsters than ever in the race to grow stronger. With an invincible enemy already anticipating them, they will learn that sometimes winning the battle is more important than surviving it.

Non-gamers response
Hi, I am a 60 year old woman who has never played a computer game more complicated than Frogger or Tetris. And never written a review in my life. But this deserves my time.
I bought book 1 to help me sleep. A story I would have zero interest in that would just be noise in the background to shut my own restless brain down.
So imagine my surprise when I was sleeping less because I needed to hear what would happen to these amazing characters. And I found myself listening to the books more than once which I have never done before with any book read or listened to.
As a psychoanalyst I am impressed by how realistically the characters behave and talk, over 3 extensive books. I’m guessing you have a group of writers and that means the characters have individual voices very discernible from each other.
The worlds created are mesmerising, the bad guys eminently believable and I really feel I want to hear more about their journey.
With any book/film as a reader/listener/viewer I am always waiting to be disappointed by sequels that just cannot reach the excitement engendered by the original, and with the possibility of 4, 20+ hour tomes being released in one year how could this not happen. That is not the case here, each book is as exciting and thrilling as the last and the epilogue of book 3 is just a fantastic teaser for further story arcs that sound equally engaging.
I am really looking forward to Book 4. Awesome job guys - keep them coming.

What is Neil’s accent
What an epic story- I haven’t had so much fun with a book in a while- I loved how long the book was and the 9 chapters epilogue was an interesting interpretation of the end …felt like that little clip you see after the main credits on a marvel movie. Book 4 will be epic. The narrator is absolutely phenomenal- such amazing accents and I knew who was talking most times . I actually wrote this review for the exceptional voice talent-I hope to hear Heath in more books

meh.
big step down narratively speaking. there's an awful lot of the author telling us how things are and not a lot of showing. 1/4 of the book is a recitation of ability description, 1/2 is telling us how clever Jason is generally or how well the fights are going, but there's not nearly enough of Jason being clever or of plot actually happening.

Great like. Wow.
READ IT. I urge you. I know this is just one review in a sea but honestely. This is a great new part. My favourte out of the 3. The end is amazing. Has a skow start and the performance isnt a 5/5 more like a 4/5 cause it can here and there be a bit odd. Like he starten reading and stopped to then return to the task. But the overal quality of the characters and even emotion is so good. You know who is who purely from the way he talks without doing werd accent.

Starts off great…
A series that starts off great but shows off that it started off as a web-novel and was unlikely to have been planned out in any detail as problems are solved cos the story need’s them to be fixed.
If you like a friendship always triumphs story then this will be super enjoyable but if you like challenges to feel like they were overcome then avoid

Not as good as previous
This wasn't a bad book per say but it definitely want up to the standards of the first two. The plot does build to a satisfying conclusion but it is them followed by at least two hours of epilogues. The team spend a lot of time no having much social interaction and are apparently ok with that.
The main problem for me was that the Ability descriptions which were more occasional before were now prevalent all the time. Nothing breaks up the flow of a fight scene like "He ducked a punch and used a special kick. Abilities turbo kick activated. Use kicks to kick things. Effect at iron your kicks are more powerful. Effect at bronze your kicks are even more powerful. Cost high mana."
It was so bad we were having Jason's cleanse ability, which has been a crucial plot point in previous books, described to us again. There were some great bits like where Jason visited North East Mining Village 4 again but there were a lot of dull bits too.
The narrator was great though. I'll be keeping an eye out for Heath Miller's other work.
[Spoilers] The ending threw me a bit. I have since confirmed online that Jason returns to Earth which I couldn't give a toss about. Don't know why anyone would buy a LitRPG book to read about the character leaving the RPG space. They also say Jason's political rants play a much larger role yet they were always cringeworthy and pathetic to me. I won't be buying a book where Jason isn't having banter with Clive, Humpry, Sophie, Neal and the gang.
Also, if you have 10 spaces available on a one way trip to save the world then you fill those 10 spaces. The idea that Jason's team of 7 is all they send was madness. Rufus, Gary and Farrah were a team of 3 and they worked fine there's no reason Emir or someone couldn't have found a team of 3 competent iron rankers to assist. This could have been crucial in changing the ending and left me scratching my head.

Why say it once when you can say it ten times?
I've been keeping with this series on the promise of that first book. I enjoy the MC and his philosophy and the standard "gotta level up!" storyline is fine. What is really starting to grind my gears about this series is the repitition. The repitition is what bothers me. I really don't like the repitition. You know what I don't like? Repitition.
After having read that you are starting to get a clue of what this series is becoming. There's at least six hours in this audiobook that doesn't need to be there because its either A. Repeating something we already know. or B. Going through the motions of a character interaction that was already established. Example: (I don't like you because you don't drink coffee! *one chapter later* I still don't like you because you don't drink coffee!
This may just be how this author writes. I don't know. But there's enough good here that I hope he improves or at least gets a good editor.

This story took an unfortunate turn
So I've been waiting with bated breath for this, especially given how I first thought it was releasing on the 9th July.. darn you American date format! But after having just finished it, I have to say I'm disappointed and probably wont be following the story any further.
1) The book largely abandons its local and political tone in favour of an action tone, ie: this book is the most title-appropriate out of the series. It's just hours and hours and hours of him and his team fighting stuff.
2) Speaking of the fighting: the magic system favours the main characters. You know how, in the first book, one of Jason's ability's evolves in a critical moment? Expect a lot more of that in this book.
3) The astral beings are just another layer of turtles and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if another layer is introduced later on.
4) Speaking of which, the stakes are raised so high it's hard to care: the astral space subplot in the first book balloons into Jason literally being The Chosen One to save the parallel universes from The Builder.
5) There are multiple occasions where months go by in just a sentence.
6) There's three hours of epilogue and most of it is not particularly interesting.
7) Someone left a review on book two that everyone is becoming like Jason, and while someone refuted that in their review, I have to say that it's even more true in this book.
Overall, it's not an awful listen, but it's lacking a lot of charm from the first book and you'll probably glaze over a lot of what's going on, go back and realised you didn't actually anything interesting or important.

EVERY SINGLE FIGHT had about 3 minutes of action and 35 minutes of explaining EVERY ability and what they do, what rank it is, how it stacks, TERRIBLE. I used my skip button for probably half the book and zoned out on other just because the actual meat of the storyline was few and far between.
The readers miss the political and sarcastic side of Jason. Not a “magical power attack theory 101”
Not even going to listen to the 3 HOURS of epilogues he wrote because I feel like I’ve already been ripped off of the storyline of Jason, I’m not going to listen to his teams storyline either

love this series
both the author and narrator are fantastic. as always I love the main character because nomater what he says or does or believes he still does the best he can. putting more good in the world. I'm only 3 chapters in so far will update when I finish. but just had to drop this review and say both author and narrator keep up the great work

I'm giving this 5 stars on everything but...
so far I've bought all three of these audiobooks and I have 19 hours left on the 3rd book, Jason just got captured by Lawrence at the behest of Lucian Lampre. my issue up to this point is character progression or lack there of in this case. I know this is fantasy and all that but according to the world this author has created and the rules there in Jason should not be alive after facing a silver rank monster at IRON rank. let me repeat... after 3 books the MC is still at the lowest possible level for an adventurer. I understand that authors want their mc to go through all their trials as the underdog and have them win by the skin of their teeth but this is ridiculous. from the authors own description a bronze ranker can destroy a iron with relative ease so how can Jason even still be alive at this point. I've only had this audible account for 9 months and have a total listen time of 2 months. thats 1440 listening hours on this platform not including the wall of audio cds i have in my house with over a thousand titles that I've already listened to multiple times. so I am an experienced listener. I'm tired of weak mcs every author does the same thing, except kel kade with his mc in kings dark tidings that was awesome and new but he still hasn't finished it and its been a few years since his last title in that series.

Poor ending.
I have really enjoyed the series but the last few hours of this book we're a real disappointment for me. It was just a lot of confusing nonsense with no satisfaction in it at all. It was more like the first few chapters of a different series and really took away from the experience for me.

Really Needs Fundamental Editing
This book continues a slight downward trend of the previous entries.
If you're reading this one, you already know that the book is formed from serials. The timeline of the serials is SIGNIFICANTLY further along from a brief glance at the website they're posted on.
This is one of those books where you could remove a quarter or a third of the word-count and it wouldn't effectively change the outcome. I feel for the author **minor spoilers** for focusing on six different characters with twenty abilities each and extra bonus abilities on top that they feel they have to describe. They've written themselves into a corner when it comes to concise writing. That said, I don't need you to explain the exact text of the ability multiple times. It's probably less grating in book form rather than hearing the narration of the same thing, sometimes in back to back chapters, several times.
Along those lines, the training montage section of this book was easily a half of its length. Way too long, way too much focus on encounters that, at the end of the day, don't matter.
That said, I enjoyed the book. These problems won't stop me from picking up the next one (presumably releasing in December), but I would like to see some more time spent editing and converting from the serial format. If you're reading this, one chapter a week, at approximately the rate it was released or similar, I'm not sure I'd have the problems with it I've mentioned here.
**Major Spoilers**
The epilogue chapters are horrible in terms of story flow. I'm sorry, EIGHT epilogue chapters is way too much. I had to force myself to finish the book. A lot of what happened there could have happened off screen. I enjoyed the chapter with Jason's sister, the portion on Thadwick's fate, and the sections in the inter dimensional city, Everything else could have been saved for the beginning of the next book or just left to the reader's imagination/shown in their actions later on. It really was a slog.
