About this listen

Jason arrives at a kingdom in peril and he's surprised to discover that it's not his job to save it.

With the authorities fulfilling their responsibilities (for once), he looks forward to some quiet time to rest and recuperate.

The locals might not find ceaseless monster onslaughts and an interdimensional invasion relaxing, but Jason has had a rough few years. He's doing his best to let go of his anger.

While his team is caught up in duty, Jason has no shortage of people looking to interfere with his rest. Enemies—old and new—are circling, and even would-be allies are trouble. A princess finds him inconveniently alive, an ancient king arrives at his barbecue, and the local Church of Fertility are uncomfortably enthusiastic about including him in their practices. As his friends strive to reach him from the far side of the world, they are all frustrated by obstacles.

Jason is finally back in the world he longed for, but he is not the same man he was when he left. As the pressure on him mounts, allies and enemies alike will find that out the hard way.

I have been listening to a fair bit of LitRPG books recently and this series is by far the best I have found. it has game elements but the fantasy is also great, the story does not get boring even when the action takes a back seat in places and the characters are well developed in my opinion. the main character is overpowered a usual but unlike other series they don't walk around dominating everything which is a nice change. I will have the next book on pre order shortly.

Can't wait for the next one

It took a while, but think we are finally back on track.

I think a lot of the humour and character interplay had been missing from the last couple of books, due to a difference in story setting. Now having returned to the setting the series started in, a lot of the cultural and character interplay is back as well, for the better.

The main character is less prominent, and even tempered by the machinations of the world and story again.

Finally getting back to what I liked in the books

I have been waiting months for this after binge listening to the rest of the series. I’m so pleased it is no longer based on earth and the team is back together again.

I found the emotional stress of Jason in the last book just a bit much and it is nice that he is coming through this with this next instalment. The books seem to be getting shorter so I skipped through this extremely quickly. It leaves you wanting more though and now the wait starts again for the next book. A really enjoyable series

Worth the wait

Great series, perfect humour for a niche childhood. Tongan Ninja and Monkey Magic!! I'll listen to the end

Love the series!

I loved it! These books are amazing, waiting for new books is giving me the same level of excitement that I got as a child waiting for the Harry Potter books to be released. Honestly, I didn't think I would ever experience that level of excitement over a book as am adult. But here we are with me pre ordering the next book.

Awesomely Awesome
