Summary

It’s summer in Adders Fork. The sun is out, the sky is blue and things are going swimmingly for Rosie Strange. The Essex Witch Museum has been relaunched with a new Ursula Cadence wing and picnic grounds. Then developers roll into the sleepy village to widen the road.

When the centuries-old Blackly Be boulder, said to mark the grave of a notorious witch, is moved, all hell breaks out. Within hours a slew of peculiar phenomena descends, and when a severed head is discovered atop the boulder, the locals storm the museum to demand someone take action.

Can Rosie and Sam unravel the mystery? And what of the ancient treasure that could drastically change someone’s fortunes and offer a motive for murder?

Essex Ladies

I found it more about the thinking of Essex ladies rather than a gripping Murder Mystery. There are a number of witty one-liners, "I am not a Witch nor do I self-identify as one", just to give one example. The narrator gives a very good performance in portraying the main character which adds to the overall humor.

Witty!

I love these books. One of the few books that makes me laugh out loud with the one liners! I always find myself researching the real characters within the story also. If you like quick wit and suspense, then you may enjoy this book.

More of this Series please!!!

I really enjoy this series. Julia Barrie is brilliant as Rosie and a joy to listen to. The stories are engaging and proper who done it mysteries with fab historical back stories. Lots of layers that benefit from listening at least twice. I just would like more please! I hope the new book will be available when it is released 😀

Strangely enjoyable

Julia Barrie provides a great narration for this story.

The plot has several twists and turns that if it was not based on the supernatural would have been in the genre of the great thriller writers like Agatha Christie. Well done Syd Moore.

Read books 1 & 2 before reading a Strange Fascination as all 3 are linked.

Really enjoyed this and the previous two audio books.

Light fiction at its fun best

Serious themes pop up at intervals and points made but overall these stories are good fun.

Strangely fascinating

Not my normal type of book this (or the series ) but is well written and read. The characters are believable and written with humanity and humour. The story line, as with others in the series, is woven with possibilities, hints at otherworldly behaviour and enough intricacy to keep it interesting. Entertaining and by turn humorous and exciting, it casts a spell on the reader/listener.

Sid Moore! You’ve done it again!

Wow what can I say? I’ve become a huge fan of Sid Moore’s work, I absolutely loved her other books, but then I discovered the Strange Series, and nothing prepared me for the bonds I as a reader would build with Rosie and Sam. Sid writes her characters so well that each and every one of them comes to life in my mind, I can picture them, hear them, and grow to care about them. When you finish a book and sit there missing the characters, you know you’ve been on an amazing journey through its chapters. I felt like I was right there with them. I literally listened to the first two books two weeks before this one was released on audible, I was (still am) going through some issues and these books got me through, the days and nights my mind wouldn’t switch off from these issues, from doing the house work to working on the computer I was doing so by listening to Rosie and Sam on their adventures, I finished the second book 5 days before this one released so I literally finished listening and started back at chapter one, to fill the gap between books, I didn’t get bored even though I had just listened to them, in fact I enjoyed them more just because I adore Rosie and Sam, and they helped me escape my own issues. I listen to many audible books each week, I go through credits like no tomorrow, it’s going to take a lot to compete with this and make me feel the way these books do. Thank you Sid Moore x
