Summary

Secretly Rosie Strange has always thought herself a little bit more interesting than most people - the legacy her family has bequeathed her is definitely so, she's long believed. But then life takes a peculiar turn when the Strange legacy turns out not just to be the Essex Witch Museum, but perhaps some otherworldly gifts that Rosie finds difficult to fathom.

Meanwhile Sam Stone, Rosie's curator, is oddly distracted as breadcrumb clues into what happened to his missing younger brother and other abducted boys from the past are poised to lead him and Rosie deep into a dark wood where there lurks something far scarier than Hansel and Gretel's witch....

A shift from suspense to horror doesn't work here.

Syd Moore has been adding more horror elements to the Essex Witch Museum series, not welcome but OK but this book really passes from the suspense/mystery genre to full on horror. This sits very oddly with the jump him or dump him erotic light sub-plot. All in all, not a good read.

Fabulous as always!

I have loved every single one of the Essex Witch Museum books and this one didn't disappoint. My only sadness was that it ended, they always end too soon in my opinion, leaving me waiting impatiently for the next installment. Brilliant books!

Good story but…

This was another good story to add to the series. I like the developing back story for Rosie’s family history with each book. However, I did think with the last book that the will they won’t they with Rosie and Sam had gone on long enough and since that remains the case that part is actually just getting a bit predictable and boring now, it definitely left me with a bit of a taint on the enjoyment of the book which was a good little story with a few supernatural elements to it.

Brilliant as ever!

A welcome addition to the Essex Witch Museum series. I could not stop listening once I had started.
Now, to wait for the next witchy instalment!
