Summary

It's the most wonderful time of the year....

It's December on Castle Street; the fairy lights are twinkling, snow has settled and the festive season is in full swing.

For Carly, the owner of Carly's Cupcakes, it's the busiest time of year getting everyone's Christmas treats ready on time. However with her clumsy sister, Bethany, as a co-worker, it's proving a difficult task. They say you shouldn't mix work with family. Maybe they have a point....

As Christmas approaches, Carly is also eagerly awaiting the return of her best friend to Whitborough Bay. Liam has no idea he's been the object of her affection since their schooldays. After years of pining after him, can Carly pluck up the courage to finally tell him how she really feels by 25th December?

Could a little festive magic make all of Carly's wishes come true this Christmas?

A heartwarming, short festive story of friendship and family from best seller Jessica Redland.

Lovely feel good book would definitely recommend

Loved this book as well as all the other books by Jessica Redlands. I have binge listened to them all while cleaning out cupboards etc during Covid Lockdown great feel good escapism. I am now suffering from withdrawal symptoms and eagerly looking forward to the next book 📖.
Thank you Jessica for brightening up my lockdown😊.

REALLY AMAZING STORY

I absolutely loved it, the story line is brilliant, I love how's it's not drawn out like most books, it took a few chapters to get hooked, but after chapter 3 I couldn't put it down, definitely worth a read if you love a bit of romance, drama & a few twists too.

That voice!

oh man, why would you choose a narrator with a voice like fingernails on a blackboard?! It was truly painful at times, especially listening to her whining whether she read the little sister.
The story is very much like a cupcake, overly sweet with no actual nutritional value, but you still keep eating...

Had to stop the book annoying narrator

The annoying voice of the narrator totally ruined the book, and I’m a Yorkshire lass, what a shame.

A lovely listen

This is the 2nd Jessica Redland I've listened to. I enjoy the last who reads it. The stories are a little predictable at times, however I like the style they're with in and I become quite invested in the characters. A really lovely listen and I've already downloaded another.

Next book suggestion for readers !!!!

If you enjoyed this book make sure to read ‘Christmas Every Day’ by Beth moran.
It is free and included in the audible deal.
This book is not what you think it is not about Christmas but the title still relates to the book.
When I read it , it made me so happy. The story line is loverly and the characters are so relatable. The only down side is the narrator, it is very overly energetic even when the characters are supposed to be tired or upset. After a while you get used to it. I hope you consider reading it because it really is one of the best books I have ever heard.

Another fabulously cheesy listen

The narrator is irritating at first but don’t give up, it’s a feel good story with a gloriously cheesy ending, and you’ll get used to her voice.

Her books always make me smile and brighten a gloomy day.

Loved the story and characters wish it had been slightly longer, but it was quality writing. Narrator was excellent.

Not genre listed. Not spiritual. Nearly Romance.

So the book was good but it's 89% about sisterly bonds. Which was ok but not what was listed. There is a slight nod to a bff to lovers but it is almost and after thought, which is too bad because it could have really been a wonderful.story on it's own. Oh well... not my type of topic but not bad for what it was.

Very good.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't really expecting this to be as good as it was. Fun characters and a great story. I liked the humor in it. I loved the description of the cakes, and cupcakes. It was a good subject that people don't realize you don't have to be in a war to suffer from PTSD. Emma Swan did a great job of narrating this book.

The narrator ruins it

Redland uses a few narrators and this particular narrator’s voice makes it impossible for me to listen to anything she says. It sounds like your grandmother is scolding you throughout the entire reading.

My fav Christmas audiobook yet! 🎄🎅🏻

I absolutely LOVED this Christmas audiobook! The narration was lovely and it was such a heartwarming story of romantic and familial love. And I love anything about sisters as I am very close with my own. The narrator did a great job with all of the voices. Highly recommend.

Spoilers: Every character is so likable, I wish that I knew them all in real life. I saw a lot of negative reviews about Bethany but I absolutely loved her. I have always been able to relate to ppl with mental issues and I def had bad self-esteem growing up as I had helicopter parents who never let me do anything for myself. Like Bethany, it left me with little to no coping skills. I saw a lot of readers complaining that it was too much about Bethany but I loved it. I really felt the love Carly had for her sister and Liam. Carly is exactly the type of person Bethany needs in her corner. And we learn that Carly has her own fears to conquer, just like Bethany.

The main character is wonderful and I am so glad everything works out for her. Christmas magic is plentiful throughout this delightful story. It has humor, romance, friendship, redemption, second chances, karma, great writing and narration! I just can’t applaud this book enough 🎄🎅🏻

Nice story and Narration

Very cute story and I love the narrator. I really don’t understand why others don’t. She has a uniquely delightful voice and is not dull like others I’ve heard.,
The story is actually very well written.

An English version of aHoliday Hallmark movie

This is a sweet, simple, charming and wholesome listen.
Except for a few smatterings of reminiscing by the FMC, 80% of the books is about what happens to her and her cupcake shop over a 3 week period. There’s a high school bully, family drama, quirky friends, cake orders that get ruined all leading up to Christmas while she’s hoping the MMC can make it home from the army for the holidays. See? It’s a perfect hallmark set up.
Since I’m used to steamy romances this was way too bland. But since I love the Hallmark holiday movies I’d rather have seen this on the screen. The narrator worked well for this type of book.

Cute Story

This is a good snuggle in bed with hot tea or cocoa and warm blankets kind of book. A little heart warming, a little love inducing, a little romantic. I enjoyed it. Its not too deep, not a lot of drama, not something you have to think deeply about. There is an issue that arises and its a good topic to discuss because its relevant. But its a story wraps up nicely and easily.

British Romance Is a Thing!

I loved this story! I have long been a fan of British mysteries and have watched British comedies on TV. Somehow I have never considered British romance as a genre.

This book has opened my eyes to a whole new avenue of entertainment for me. As the eldest of 3 sisters, I can very much identify with the Oldest Daughter Syndrome as experienced by Carly in this story. i can empathize with the need to achieve alongside the need to rescue and build up the younger sister. A lovely romance! A lovely story!
