Fanciful story of a murky underworld
- By papapownall on 01-07-20
Summary
Bubbles of cold sweat trickled down Faye’s spine. The hole wasn’t empty. Before she could turn and run, she caught the two sightless eyes staring up at her. Only then did she scream.
When Faye Baker discovers a fragile child’s skull behind the walls of her new home, Detective Lottie Parker is called to investigate. The house has been owned for years by the family of Faye’s boyfriend Jeff, so when Jeff starts acting suspiciously, Lottie wonders what he might be hiding....
Lottie doesn’t have long to dig deeper before a child’s bones are found by 11-year-old Gavin on nearby railway tracks. The bones don’t match the small skull behind the walls, but Lottie can’t ignore the coincidence. Someone out there must be missing their loved ones and it’s up to her to put right a terrible wrong.
Unable to shake a feeling of foreboding, Lottie goes to speak to Faye, and discovers that she hasn’t turned up for work. When Faye’s body is found stuffed in the back of her car, Lottie needs to find out who wanted her to keep quiet.
As Lottie hunts for Faye’s killer, the case takes a darker turn when Gavin goes missing. Faye and Gavin are connected only by the grisly body parts they discovered. But who are these little victims and why has their killer come back? Can Lottie find the answers before another precious life is taken?
This thrilling new novel from best-selling author Patricia Gibney will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. If you like Lisa Regan, Robert Dugoni, and Rachel Caine, you’ll love Buried Angels.

Best one by far
Loved how this storyline went along, it had you wondering who was the killer, it was a shock who it was. I think this book is the best out of all Patricia's books about Lottie and her family etc. I just wish Lottie for once would get a superintendent who would support her 100% as she deserves it. Can't wait for the next Lottie Book hopefully it's about her and Boyd's wedding. Then Boyd would move in to the mad house and his sister could stay in his flat.

Another hit!
I've listened to all of the Lottie Parker books and I hate it when they end. This one is no exception. Even though the mystery is wrapped up, the personal life of Lottie Parker is just as interesting. The mysteries are always so tangled up that just when you think you know who the culprit is, the end always surprises! Patricia is a master story teller and this series is a favorite. Can't wait for the next book!

Lottie is back and better than ever!!!
The last few books of this series had left me wondering if I would even read book eight. Lottie had become unlikable to me - selfish and shrill. Apparently Ms. Gibney read my reviews and made some adjustments! (Haha) There was no "Boyd drama" to wade through - just a good procedural/mystery. There's a focus on the other detectives: hapless, homeless Kirby, conniving Lynch, newbie McCuen, and another boss who is going to give DI Parker fits! There's also a poignant, brief reappearance of Corrigan in this story, and his own little, sad story is very well-written. I'm so happy that Lottie has gotten it together and that the series is moving in the right direction. This may be my favorite of the entire series. Stellar performance, as always, by Michele Moran.
