About this listen

The climactic third novel in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost's Night Prince series finds Vlad and his newly turned bride, Leila, at odds with each other—and vulnerable to the one vampire powerful enough to end the Dark Prince's reign . . .

Play with fire, pay the price

Leila's years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn't learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin . . .

Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn't like Vlad to feel fear, but he does . . . for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad's greatest weakness. As friend and foe alike align against him—and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away—Vlad's love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both . . .

I love the vlad series but this one did not feel like it matched up to the other two as it was quite gruesome in places but still wanting more from the vlad story line. Xxx

After listening to the last book in this series, I was worried about purchasing this book, the next installment of the Night Prince story.
I'm very happy to say I had nothing to worry about.
In hindsight, I think at least some of the disappointment was the very poor recording of Book 2.
Each chapter either finished a split second before "Chapter #" was spoken, or The "Chapter #" was actually spoken cutting off a word or 2 from the end of the previous chapter.
This book however was very enjoyable, much better story pacing, I started to like Leilas character alot more, and the complexity of Vlad was further enhanced.
I love the way Leilas sister was so well portrayed by the Auther and Tavia Gilbert deserves an award for her ability to change her voice to make the listener forget that its just one narrator reading this series!
I felt all the characters were much better fleshed out in this book, and the rollercoaster of emotion wasnt overdone, or forced.
All in all this is a very enjoyable listen, totally back to form from Jeaniene Frost.

Would you consider the audio edition of Bound by Flames to be better than the print version?

Brilliant and Different but not better - I own both and enjoy both at different times.

What other book might you compare Bound by Flames to, and why?

The Night Prince Series is as brilliant as Night Huntress series (Cat and Bones) I can give it no better praise. If I had to choose another author I would say the Jane Yellowrock Series which I also love beyond reason.

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

Her performance is wonderful with a different voice for each character. Whatever they pay her she is worth it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could do but I prefer to spread my pleasure.

Any additional comments?

The characters have been developed further. Leila made stupid decisions as always with drastic consequences. With a new master villain at the end. Loved it, Loved it

Brilliant - Jeaniene Frost Usual High Standard

I was actually introduced to this author through this knight Prince series with Vlad and Leyla. I loved it so much I went off to find out what else she'd written, realised these books sit within the whole other story arc of the knight huntress world with cat and bones and promptly started working my way through that series.

firstly if you too didn't realise these books are stories within a larger story I highly recommend reading the whole series in order. I've seriously enjoyed it.

secondly this is my second read/listen to Vlad and layla's story, because I wanted to listen again knowing the fuller context of the wider story arc, along with all the other characters, and I'm really glad I did. you by no means have to, I loved these books the first time before I realised the bigger story existed, but I'm really glad I have read them again within the bigger story arc because there are little references to things that have happened previously that I now understand this time round, because ' I was there' in a previous book, which, for me, just makes the stories a little richer, but as I said by no means necessary.

the vlad and Leyla story arc is really great and there's a real wicked sense of humour that runs through the V & L storyline that I love, with one secret coming out in this book that literally had me laughing out loud...so funny...
but aside from that this story has yet another really intersting twist on what can happen within the supernatural world that Jeaniene Frost is so good at. never underestimate your enemies. loved it.
