Princess Anastasia Rose dreams of attending school, but her plans are put on hold when war begins between her father and the beastly lord of a nearby castle in the mountains.

BRAVO! WONDERFUL STORY! AMAZING NARRATION!

ONE OF THE BEST RETELLINGS OF BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!

I loved how Vivienne Savage takes the classic fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast, owns it, re-creates it, and delivers a sweet and beautiful retelling of this classic. The plot's well written, flows naturally, and has excellent world building and character development. Vivienne's version is sweet, and builds the relationship and chemistry between the characters. There's no instant love, nor is it filled with angst or any unnecessary drama, just a swoon worthy dragon-shifter who's been cursed.

Shoshana Franck's performance BLEW ME AWAY!!!! It was awesome! She really brought this fairly tale to life, and nailed the tone, characters and emotions. I knew within just a few minutes of starting, I was going to love her performance, and I did!

I devoured, and enjoyed every minute! Recommended for any fairy tale fan. It's well worth the time, credit, sale, but it's also an excellent whispersync deal!

Fire that burns within

Some authors have true talent. They truly have magic in their fingertips. They can make their words reach out through the pages and pull the reader right into the story itself. Well these two authors have that talent. If you are like me when reading a good story, you get pulled into the book so much that you can see it playing out before you in your mind. This can really put you on an emotional rollercoaster and I truly was on one in this book. Yip, I laughed and shed a few tears.

I truly loved Anastasia. She was full of so much life and had so much strength. She truly is a strong woman and that strength will be tested in this book. There were places were my heart truly broke for her. There were times I wanted to reach in the book and truly to protect her and other places I wanted to just reach in and give her a hug and tell her it will be okay. In this story you will see that Ana will know what it is like to be loved deeply by her father, she will know betrayal, hurt, fear and hatred. She will also know what it is like to be selfless and be brave.

In this book we will get to know the Beast who was also known as Alistair. We will know his bitterness, pain, and betrayal that he felt. The authors truly were in touch with this character and wrote him well. You truly got to know the beast on more of a personal level and understand him a little better. Beast was letting his hurt and anger consume him. It was destroying the young man that his fairy godmother loved. Something need to change and I have to say that the fairy godmother truly showed tough love and it was truly needed.

I feel like I should touch on Anastasia’s parents just a little. Love can so strange things. Queen Lorelei who was Ana’s mother was suffering from a mental illness. It had not only taken the Queen from her family mentally and it was really taking a toll on the King and Ana as well. King Morgan who was Ana’s father was something. You will have some many things go through your mind when reading the book. At one point you will feel he truly loves his daughter and then in some parts of the book you will doubt that love.

Prince Edward of Dalborough. WOW, what a character. I hated him from the get go. I have to say that every pain he felt he truly deserved. Prince Edward’s parents were something as well. I truly believe that this family was the true monsters in this story.

I loved when Alistair and Anastasia met. They truly needed each other. Alistair is cursed and there are some conditions to his curse. He is doing his best to make sure not break those conditions but Ana with her curious mind is truly making it hard. My heart broke for Alistair during his time with Ana. Alistair was a dragon shifter who was stuck in his dragon form. So all Ana was getting to see was the Beast. He wanted so badly for her to see the man. It broke my heart every day when he would ask her if she could ever love him. I do have to say though that I did love the twist that the fairy Eos threw on things. Sorry you will have to read the book to find out.

If you love fairy tales, then you will love this one. The authors did an amazing job putting their own little twist to Beauty and the Beast.

Gotta love the fairy tales!

I'm always up for a good fairy tale retelling. This one involves magic and a dragon shifter - bonus! I also appreciate the strong heroine. Though it takes her longer than it should to figure out the "beast," she stands up for herself and others.

Couldn't get into it more than try first words of chapter

Did not like the narration, too breathy. Not serious enough for the content. Too bad, might have been good

Good fairy tale

I did enjoy this. I’m glad I listened to the whole thing. I was tempted a time or two to delete it because I couldn’t stand the narrator at all. So sing-songy, like an overly annoying preschool teacher

Stiff narration

Unfortunately this was a terrible story for this narrator boring and stiff and pretentious. I am glad this was in my romance package so that it was easy to remove.

Splendid take on Beauty and the Beast

This is a must read beautiful take on Beauty and the Beast. I usually find myself going through and nitpicking every little thing, but I have to say as I was listening to this I found myself countless times just sitting there lost in the story; to my utter surprise. Miss Savage did a splendid job taking the traditional Beauty and the Beast story and giving it a Twist that everyone is going to be sucked into. Many times I see people trying to rewrite a classic story and failing because they try to stay to close to the main storyline. Not only did Miss Savage keep the key elements to Beauty and the Beast but gave it such a different take it felt like a new story. Doing something like this can be the hardest thing for a writer and she pulled it off with extreme success.
If I'm being completely honest I feel like this story was more of a success then the new Beauty and the Beast live action film. That's a prime example of saying to closest storyline where everyone seems to be bored with it halfway through.
The story kept me on my toes wanting to know what happened next and for somebody like me to be able to get sucked into a story means that the author did a fantastic job. This is a must-read book. So sit back, relax and be ready to be sucked into Miss Savages new world.

A decent Beauty and the Beast retelling

As I make my way through a slew of fairytale retellings (mostly batb) I become more critical. This was a VERY good adult retelling. It isn't the BEST I've come across but it was good nonetheless. Vivienne Savage's spin on this tale and the type of "beast" the protagonist encounters is a unique and exciting approach to the story and I loved it!
