Summary

Xander hates werewolves.
In all fairness, they’re not too keen on him either.

Normally, avoidance would be the obvious solution. At least, it would be if the werewolves in question weren’t holding a newly-turned six-year-old vampire child as a prisoner. Alone in London, it’s up to Xander to rescue the boy before he can fall into the hands of Bael’s sadistic servant, Bastian Kovac.

That mission that becomes exponentially more difficult when Xander discovers the identity of the mysterious female werewolf acting as the boy’s guardian. With the forces of darkness closing in from all directions, nothing is as it seems.

There’s a reason vampires and werewolves don’t mix. Of course, in more than 120 years, no one has ever accused Xander of playing by the rules.

Why should he start now?

An entertaining series

A good listen although the series is very formulaic. I like to leave a gap between each book before I listen.
I liked the fact that there was a werewolf in this instalment as it gave the series a new twist.
I really love the bond and camaraderie between the group of vampires. The action scenes were great and the romance hot.
I look forward to reading the rest of the series to see how it all ends!

Dark, desperate, blood thirsty.... The story cont.

This book has two intertwined plots. There is the macro-plot, or series plot, about good versus evil and demons versus angels. The micro-plot that focuses on vampire Xander and his soul mate, Manisha. To be honest, it is best to read/ listen the books in order because the macro plot ties the series together. With each subsequent book, the pieces of the story slot into place building towards what promises to be a grand finale.

Xander hates werewolves so it would appear that fate has a sense of humour. He literally bumps into his mate just as she prepares for her first shift by the light of the full moon. This poses potential problems for the vampire folklore regarding the Council of 13 needed to counter the demon Bael. And just as he finds his mate, a 6 year old child vampire and Snag go missing.

The vampires are getting closer to their coveted 13. The authors have definitely built the anticipation. There is a suggestion of darker times to come but also a chance for love to conquer it all. I am looking forward to the next books in the series.
