About this listen

Lord of the mystical and uncanny, Magnus the Red has long studied the ancient crafts of sorcery. A psyker without peer, save only for the Emperor himself, he commands his loyal followers of the Thousand Sons Legion in the Great Crusade, though also vigilant for any lost knowledge they might recover from the remains of dead human civilisations.

Now, fighting alongside his brother Perturabo of the Iron Warriors, Magnus begins to foresee an approaching nexus of fate - will he remain true to their mutual aims or divert his own efforts towards furthering his own mastery of the warp?

The performance and story is great. No idea why Vashti gets so much attention.

Worth a listen

Thinking this would cover much of the same ground as past books I was wrong this is an excellent story and well narrated.

An excellent listen.

Magnus the Red: Master of Prospero is a fantastic novella which provides an insight into the crusade-era Thousand Sons and Iron Warriors as they seek to evacuate a planet from a cataclysmic natural disaster, and a doomsday cult. We are treated to seeing the Thousand Sons as archaeologists, scholars, philosophers and magicians alike as they bond with the stoic and reserved fourth legion of the Iron Warriors. Magnus and Perturabo share a bond which is unmatched with other primarchs and feels wholesome, fully real and genuine. Graham McNeill knocked it out the park with this story. I truly believe it to be the best installment in the Primarch Novel Series. But, that doesnt change the matter that inevitably: 'All will be dust.'

I was hoping for a little more information about Magnus apart from his abilities on Morningstar, and against Shi'tan (hope that's how you spell it). But I did thoroughly enjoy the story, and now I think the offshoot book about Aharmani. The narrator Keeble first class as always, I do think he puts all his talents into every character, how he remembers which voice goes to which of the characters is brilliant. But Not enough information about Magnus The Red. Book should have been called 'The Desolation of Morningstar' and maybe only 3🌟 for that reason.

Not what you expect.

Excellent insight into both the Thousand Sons and Iron Warriors. I really enjoyed the interactions between the two legions. Would definitely recommend.

Iron Warriors were the surprising stars of the book.
