Summary

The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved cult classic about family, friendship and first love, from award-winning author Benjamin Alire Sáenz. This lyrical novel will enrapture fans of John Green, Love, Simon and Call Me by Your Name.

A love story like no other.

In Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, two boys fell in love. Now they must discover what it means to stay in love and build a relationship in a world that seems to challenge their very existence.

Ari has spent all of high school hiding who he really is, staying silent and invisible. He expected his senior year to be the same. But something in him cracked open when he fell in love with Dante, and he can’t go back. Suddenly, he finds himself reaching out to new friends, standing up to bullies and making his voice heard. And, always, there is Dante - dreamy, witty Dante - who can get on Ari’s nerves and fill him with desire all at once.

The boys are determined to forge a path for themselves in a world that doesn’t understand them. But when Ari is faced with a shocking loss, he’ll have to fight like never before to create a life that is truthfully, joyfully his own.

Beautiful

As good or perhaps even better than the first book. Such a lovely story to read and Lin-Manuel narration makes it even better. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved every second of this book. It was beautifully read and the story holds such an important message. It’s wonderfully written and I’ll certainly listening to it over and over again.

Ari and dante dive into the waters of the world

Today I finished a book called Aristotle and Dante dive into the waters of the world I have a lot to say about this book I like how they portrayed Ari’s feelings of not knowing how love feels like even though he said he loves Dante he doesn’t think he shows it enough and that he thinks to much and Dante doesn’t even though In a segment of the book Dante wrote him a letter saying how he loves Ari and is scared he will lose him one day they are two boys falling in love and the world won’t take them seriously.

I also like how even thought Ari likes but doesn’t like the word ‘gay’ it means happy but he doesn’t feel like he’s happy himself.

I like how Ari came to the realisation that his dad didn’t hate him he always thought that he hated him because he never talked to him but it was because that he was fighting his own war as his father was a veteran and fought in the war.

This book made me shed tears wether it be happiness or sadness more sadness then happiness. the path of the book I cried the most was when his father died a lot tears fell from my eyes when I read that part. I really liked his dad he was a very well spoken man and knew a lot about the world and was quiet similar to Ari and that even though he Ari thought his dad hated him he didn’t he was just fighting a war inside of him like he was fighting a war himself being gay wasn’t going to be something easy and loving another boy wasn’t easy but he was mapping himself around the universe like a cartographer with Dante.

There’s more to say but I’d be typing for longer na my hands would hurt🤣

Thank you, Lin-Manuel Miranda

I feared reading this book. I was… Rather, I am so in love with the first part, that I thought I could not cope with a possible disappointment after reading the continuation. It would be so easy not to live up to the expectations of the beginning of the story between Ari and Dante, a story that I so much adore.

When I finally had the courage to start reading this new path in Ari’s and Dante’s lives, after a few pages I could only think of “here it comes, the disappointment…”

I could not possibly enjoy any reading when I was stuck with such an unrealistic expectation. Also, I wasn’t in the best moment in my life when I first gave it a try, so that was a bit unfair. So I decided to give it some time, in spite of having pre-ordered the book from the moment it was announced.

Then I had some time off, and I felt I was in a better spot, and kept thinking of coming back to continue reading this book. But I ended up reading many other books, instead. Oh, how much I feared reading this book. Still.

And just before starting a long trip, I did not think it twice, and downloaded the audiobook. And I started listening to the continuation of this wonderful, sweet story.

The joy of knowing what was going on with Mendoza’s and Quintana’s families was back! The tenderness, the poetry, the humour, the beauty, the pain and the optimism in Benjamin Alire Sáenz’ writing was still there!

The narration from Lin-Manuel Miranda was the key. He has been able to give voice to Benjamin Alire Saenz’s words in a way that is just simply perfect. And I thank him for that. Not that I will ever expect that you will read this review, but thank you, Lin-Manuel, for gifting us your voice throughout this wonderful story.

In sum, I have had the satisfaction of reading/listening to the continuation of one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. I can’t but highly recommend that everybody else read it, too :)

Just Beautiful

This book has consumed my heart. It is incredibly beautiful and deeply meaningful. I wajt the words of this book to live inside me. I am just in shock at how a book like that can make me feel. I'm now going to buy the physical copies and highlight every word and recite phrases in whispers under the stars.

Exceptional, rare and beautiful

The young people who read this book have been given a gift so beautiful and wise that I am unreasonably green with envy. Treasure the words, let them infuse your life and help you navigate that strange and challenging world of love. This is so much more than a guide however. First and foremost It is about humanity and as such it is relevant to all - young or old, gay, straight or somewhere in between, the self-assured or the vulnerable. This book has something important to say to you all. Read it, wonder at its wisdom and be grateful.

A must listen!

This book covered some great topics it was hard to listen to at points because of the sadness it conveyed but also beautiful moments of love and friendship and I think it talks about lessons that would benefit everyone.
I loved it and think Im going to find it hard to find another book this good this year to top it, will definitely read this again and would recommend this book to anyone
