Summary

The free-spirited Anne Shirley has a beautiful way of looking at the world and touching our hearts. In this, the third volume of the Anne of Green Gables series, the irrepressible Anne dreams of the woman she hopes to be when she decides to leave Green Gables and her beloved Prince Edward Island for college. She is eager for new adventure. But now she faces difficult choices involving her secret aspirations to be a writer and her hopes of finding the right person to marry. Homesickness and a grumpy old math professor cause Anne to doubt she should be a Redmond College coed, even though her old friends Gilbert Blythe and Priscilla Grant are there to share the challenges and surprises. And when Anne is the recipient of unexpected marriage proposals from the most unlikely men, she may shock friends and Islanders alike with her decision.

Background noise

This recording has some feint background noise, which can be a little distracting sometimes. Lovely story, as expected.

Satisfying, easy listening. This may be my favourite Ann story yet. Highly recommend!! Performed well too by the reader.

good story and good reader

This story is way more interesting than Anne of Avonlea for some reason. The reader is pretty great, but there is some unnerving echo or noise in the background.

Poor audio edit but good narrator

I thought I was losing my mind when I was hearing faint chattering in the background, before I confirmed it was coming from the narration. Still, the narrator is good, even if I did have to reimagine Gilbert's and Mrs Lynde's voices. The audio was tinny in places and the sound jumped around in others, so it certainly would benefit from a sound remix. But I got used to it and I still enjoyed it.

Very listenable

Performance: Not an exceptional narrator, but she didn't grate too much, Wouldn't have bought it this audiobook, but listening as an "included" audiobook, it wasn't bad at all.

Story: Continuation of Anne's life in general, with the same colorful characters and new ones that are just as fun to watch. A nice "feel good" story.

Imagination can spoil beautiful reality sometimes

i was frustrated with Anne this time. Poor Gilbert. she has such a wonderful imagination, an idea of what and who love is, and therefore, in all her wisdom cannot always see that which is under her nose. At the same time, she is so young to be considering a commitment that was so matter of fact then.

Well on narrated with a good story.

Susan O’Malley narrates this story well. In my opinion no other LM Montgomery book could be as good as Anne of Green Gables, but still a thoroughly good read.
