Summary

Twenty-year-old amateur sleuth Kim returns from a well-earned Christmas holiday, definitely one year older but not all that much wiser. Her business affairs appear to be going well, but she misses the challenge and thrill of a good case to solve.

Just as she is getting truly bored with administrating her businesses, a fascinating case arises, and she is called into action by her fiancé in the Carabinieri. A terrible death has occurred, and the police have most of the facts at their disposal, but a crucial period in the relevant timeline is unaccounted for.

As ever, Kim is called in to solve the insoluble. She very quickly ascertains what has happened, but as it involves a close acquaintance of hers, she is caught on the horns of a dilemma and genuinely does not know what to do for the best. Declare all she knows and betray someone she knows and loves, plunging them into dire trouble, or does she keep schtum and hope it all works out somehow?

A truly torrid tale, to be sure.

Great Series!

I purchased this audiobook back in 2019 but forgot to write a review. After receiving an email from the news that KT Ashbourne has an interview in People magazine. I just had to write one. The Girl who lived is the most recent of the series and definitely as exciting as the others. I love The Lake Garda Mysteries series and always look forward to the next audiobook.

Total Control, more like Out Of Control

At times thrilling, at times dull and confusing. Too many technicalities too often. So many twists and turns, you started doubting the feasibility of such occurrences actually happening. Felt like I should have taken notes to keep up with who was doing what to who.

Enjoyable

This was my first audiobook by this author, but it won't be my last. Admittedly I bought it because of Claire Nicholls. Once I started it I was hooked. I loved the different characters, particularly Kim. If you want an audiobook like war and peace, don't bother, but if you like one easy to read then you'll love it. Can't wait to listen to another by Claire Nicholls.

Brilliant! Great addition to an awesome series

There are so many plots and subplots going in this audiobook, that the listener must be alert to keep up with all the action. Any listener of murder stories or detective stories wants to solve the story before the end.

Emotional ride!

Lessons in kindness, generosity, and empathy with a twist of mystery thrown in!

Claire Nicholls did a good job narrating.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Fun and vintage cars!

no-gratuitous-erotica, lgbt, mystery, italy, amateur-sleuth, law-enforcement, verbal-humor, situational-humor

The car was smashed, the driver dead, but the coroner keeps finding more issues that make no sense of the death and the Carabineri can't find out either. So they call in their sometime consultant, Kim, and that is the rest of the story! Loved it! Great series!
Claire Nicholls continues to be excellent as narrator!
