Summary

In this adventure, Kim gets a call from the Veneto State Police to come and assist them in a new case that has them puzzled. While they have identified the body in the boat, found in the harbor of the pretty little town just south of Malcesine, there are certain anomalies that they have discovered in the deceased’s own home. Strange things for which they can arrive at no credible explanation. So, they call in the famous consulting detective to sort it all out. But the question is, can she? Or is this going to be one occasion when Kim has bitten off more than she can chew?

Amazing!

This audiobook was fantastic and I found I enjoyed it more than the first. These are detective audiobooks! Do not expect any type of happy ending. I find I am left quite sad and empty at the end of each audiobook so far.

A treasure hunt

This is the first book by this author I have listened to and even though I did like it I think I would have done better starting with book one, as I wasn't always sure what was going on or the history between the characters. This won't stop me trying out other books b this author as I did like the plot and found it interesting the way the main character was trying to solve the murder while being in jail. The story was almost written as to parts, the lead up to the arrest and the aftermath, I preferred the first part of the book and found the second part a bit confusing.
Kim thinking she was being called in to help on a murder case finds herself arrested for a murder she had no clue about. While behind bars she must organize her team to find the clues to prove her innocence. Once freed she then sets out on a treasure hunt to insure the killer can no longer get his hands on his ill gotten gains and put it to use in another deadly plan of revenge.
The narrator was good and I liked her accents for the characters.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

don't bother

Annoying, rambling, and a total waste of my time
I can never get back. Save yourself the pain. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was okay.

Just loved it!

This has been one of the best in the series, now I think I will have to start over to see which one I liked best. This was a non-stop thrill ride. Good one! Really good one!

OMG, THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!

The beginning is a little slow going, but once the action starts it is difficult to put the audiobook down. One of the best audiobooks I have to listen to in a long time. Most books of this type have an ending that seems to have been pulled from nowhere. This ending is a surprise, but when you give it some thought, you can see how it built through the audiobook. I am about to order all audiobooks from the series. I only hope that it is as good as this one was.

Gripping suspense!

Definitely KT Ashbourne's best book so far. A masterpiece. Don't pick it up if you don't have time to finish it! Hooked me from the first minute, diving into intrigue with the first sentence, kept me engaged from beginning to end. I read it through in one sitting. This audiobook is a keeper! I can't wait for the next in the series.

Simply Wonderful

I simply loved this series and can not praise the storyline and writing enough. This is book one in a fourteen book series and listening to each one has been a real treat. However, I feel that the best experience is to listen to the audiobooks in order and that the best series to start with.

Such a compelling listening

I really like the Synopsis of this audiobook and it intrigued me into purchasing it straight away. I was not disappointed one bit and listened to it within two days because I had to find out what was going to happen. I needed to know the ending!! This was one of the audiobooks where I didn't guess the plot before I read it and I enjoyed the twist. It did what most audiobooks fail to do and that is shock and surprise me.

Suspenseful. Twisted ending. Good solid writing.

This year has been a great year for good mystery, suspense and thriller books! Just about every single book I’ve picked up has been a winner! I love that. This book is one of the good ones.

Body in a Boat.....

I was given a free review copy of the book at my request and this is my voluntary review.

First off, I believe you really should read this series in order. This book is not a stand-alone. I tried it anyway knowing that some mystery series allow you to jump in at any point. Not so much with this series. Some of it left me confused about characters and motivations.

The main character is apparently a big, fat liar. Maybe there's a good explanation for this in earlier books? Other than she's a con artist, I mean.

She seems to have money land in her lap awfully easily. She has a Maserati and a yacht sold to her for 4 euros among other implausible properties coming her way just as implausibly. I didn't buy it.

The actual mystery takes up very little of the book. Most of the book involves Kim running around being what she thinks is awesome and smart. A significant portion involves Kim gloating over getting the best of someone who apparently cheated her. This reinforces the con artist idea for me. And, how in the heck does she have so many businesses and so obviously not want to have anything to do with them? And still make tons of money from them?

The narration is OK. When Kim is speaking it's really great, but all the other narration is a bit monotone with a cadence that doesn't sound natural.

So, bottom line, it's an OK listen. I did listen to the whole thing without too much problem. It just stretched my ability to suspend disbelief a little thin. And I will acknowledge that my opinion may be affected by not reading the 11 books that preceded this one.
