Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

After their narrow victory over Shadow Wing, Alphabet Squadron is on the attack, hunting their adversaries within the Imperial Remnant. Shadow Wing is desperate for direction and leadership—and they find both in the iron will of Major Keize, their former commander and Yrica Quell’s one-time mentor. As battle lines blur, Alphabet Squadron finds itself not only fighting their resurgent foes, but their leader’s own deadly shadow.

I really struggled with a few of the characters portrail by monda it seemed as if she assumed it was the first book in the series and could do as she pleased making certain characters sound constantly weak and other in physical pain I feel very poor research was done before the recording...

Monda let the characters down

I loved it. Some parts I felt were weaker, some subplots I didn't like all that much but there was nothing I disliked. The tie in with the wider Star Wars universe and with Squadrons the upcoming game, is worth it alone but the series itself has quickly become one of my favourite Star Wars stories.

The new VA took some getting used to, I'd come to just equate Saskia Maarveld with the voice of Yrica Quell, so having her speak in a much more American voice threw me until I got used to it, but that is on me. Carol Monda is an excellent choice and she brings a life to characters that I never thought possible.

It's a good book good story and all ,but the narrator of the first book in my opinion was better ,it was and still is a hard thing getting used to the new narrator voice, when the characters voices set by the first narrator is hard coming over they are so different, the new one sounds like a old woman who has had too many cigarettes in her life compared to the younger and smoother sound of saskia who voiced the first book ,hope that in the next that they go back to her as narrator

Fantastic squadron book

story was fine. not much happened but I'm sure builds up to the 3rd book. sadly this is another review moaning about how "meh" the narration is. I found myself having to re listen to whole chapters as the narrator is just so monotone throughout. very difficult to follow.

if the same narrator is reading book 3, I probably won't buy. which is a shame.

story fine. narration was zzzzz

...The finale has set up an interesting 3rd book.

I absolutely adored Alphabet Squadron and I was really looking forward to this sequel. However even as an audio book I found this a struggle - no standout moments really. We get a little more backstory from each of the characters but nothing blow me away. Too easy to tune out off I'm afraid.

Also didn't appreciate the change in narrator - as the voices all changed. So if you did listen to these back to back it's a little confusing.

Not as good as the first, however...
