Enter a world where it's Halloween every day and where the monsters are normal, and the normal are monsters... I'm Ali Welson, and I'm the most normal, goody-two-shoes girl you'll meet. It's how I survive a strict home, far from the mysterious Dark Corruption that converts people into B-movie monsters on contact. But after a close call, Monstreuse, the monster academy, sends an obnoxious sorcerer to claim an unwilling new student--me. Only it's a mistake, I swear. I never touched the Corruption, as much as Byron insists otherwise. But when my family disowns me, I have no choice but to go.

My time at Monster Academy continues to get more dangerous...I've survived the first semester in Monstreuse. But my life continues to tangle, just like my budding relationship with Byron, my obnoxious, sorcerer tutor. It turns out my strange powers are tied to the force turning my fellow students into monsters, and that's not awkward at all. And it definitely doesn't put a target on my back.

As I approach my first-year anniversary in Monstreuse, I'm wishing that my fellow students were the only danger...But when you're secretly the reason everyone in the monster reserve is no longer normal, and you can't help it, life is more complicated. I still don't know our admin's plans for me, and worse, the Society wants revenge on me. Rumblings from the normal world tell us we could all be in grave danger soon.
