Summary

Abandoned as a child and unable to remember her past, Morgan was raised as a hunter, one of an elite group of fighters sworn to protect humans from the dangerous paranormal creatures who invade our world...creatures such as herself. Her life changes the day she's summoned to the Academy of Assassins, a school that trains witches and hunters to eradicate paranormals who prey on humans. Her first assignment - find and eliminate the killer who is using the Academy as their own personal hunting ground.

As Morgan delves deeper into the investigation, she will need to dodge assassination attempts, avoid the distraction of romantic entanglements with the devilishly handsome security expert, Kincade, and his maddeningly overprotective teammates, while keeping the volatile magic in her blood concealed from those who would use it for their own purposes.

When the danger increases and the school is threatened, Morgan must unearth her missing memories before someone finishes the job they started so long ago - killing her and unleashing a plague that will consume the world.

Fascinating Urban Fantasy

An excellently built world and strong characters create a strong foundation for a gripping story. The narrator is very good and excellent and differentiating the characters voices to make it easier to follow when listening. She definitely added to the experience of the book and will look out for her other work.

I’m looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Good new series - 3.5 stars

This is a refreshing story about a female hunter, Morgan. As a female she has a few strikes against her. Her life is shrouded in mystery. She cannot remember anything before the age 10. There is action and Morgan does a really good job of kicking ass. She is fast, strong and fast healing.
The Academy is home to many interesting species: werewolves, witches, wizards, hunters, fae, hellhounds and others.

Girls at the academy are being killed and they have a connection to Morgan. Her job is to find the killer.

*****Spoiler*****
The story loses points because of the cumbersome method that Morgan interacts with her male teammates. She drools over and sexual objectifies her teammates. She is the only “human” who can run with the wolves and sooth the vicious wolf. The fae admires her skill with weapons and she can make friends with a hellhound.

All her teammates have endured an emotional or physical abuse because of their species. All of them are without a mate. With soothing touches and words, she empathizes with their hurt and forms emotional intimate relationships with them. There is the usual struggle where the men want to protect her and Morgan chafing at their efforts.

If she can get over her teammates being sexy, it would be a much better story.

Enjoyed But....

I listened to book one, two, and three of this series and I enjoyed the story. I will definitely investigate if there will be a fourth. This book is a reverse harem, but if you are looking for something hot and steamy, beware that all they do is kiss in all three books. (She wasn’t ready 😉)

Definitely a new favorite!

A nice twist to old lore. I loved the integration of the more bizarre and not so used paranormal creatures. The author combined every creature to fit naturally in her fictional world. I'm impressed and will enjoy listening to more of her books.

Good Start

I liked this book. I am usually not into romance or the reverse harem but this book is taking it a bit slow which I am good with. I like that we were kept in the dark about her abilities where you know she has something but your not sure exactly what, what or how.

I also liked the performance. She did a great job creating each characte.

The story itself is a little weak. I would have liked more seing with McGregor and getting to know her and his relationship more before she gets sen of to the academy.

Prefect for some

If you ever wondered why Bella couldn’t have both Edward and Jacob, this story is for you. These barely adults have all the angst of individualism and need for acceptance.
However, story is rather rushed, predictable, and annoyingly roundabout in the romance area. The sexual tension and incomprehension our ML and MGs (yes there is more than one MG) share, is amusing.
Perfect light listening, but I’m on the shelf if I really want to keep this series in my library.

One of the best

I fell in love with this book quickly and made short work of the rest of the series. I absolutely love it. Well worth the time and the story is great. Far from boring, the plot has wonderful twists and the characters are developed so well. I haven't found a book I liked this much in a long time. I just finished the series a few days ago and I'm already going back to listen again. Morgan is one of my favorite sassy heroines and her relationships with everyone are refreshing and unique. Snatch this series quick, you won't be disappointed
