Avery never pictured herself married but it appears it might be happening...no matter how she tries to dodge and weave. The Santas make an enticing distraction, so Avery throws herself in with gusto.

Now that she’s finally embraced the idea of planning for the wedding (rather than just enjoying the marriage and honeymoon), she’s gung-ho to check things off her list. The local dressmaker Zelda Morris has just the thing for Ivy. Before she can show it to her, though, she’s murdered in the back of her own store while Ivy waits for her to return to the storefront. Unfortunately for Ivy, because she didn’t hear a thing, that makes her a suspect.

It’s meant to be a romantic vacation, a time when they can simply lay under the stars and enjoy one another before plans for their wedding begin in earnest. It doesn’t quite turn out that way. After tracing his footsteps back to the source, they find his father dead and a mystery that desperately needs to be solved. Jack Harker’s investigation is a doozy. The boy’s family life is a mess, there’s no one to take him in and every source leads to more questions. Once the state takes custody, Ivy can’t stay away and instead tries to bond with the boy.

For Ivy Morgan, that means deciding on the finishing touches for her basement renovation project and toiling away at her nursery to get flowers and bushes ready for the upcoming planting season. All that changes when a shot rings out and Ivy finds a dead woman in her driveway. The woman was supposed to be there, she was Ivy’s designer, after all. Still, Ivy can’t help but wonder if the designer was the intended target. The timing seems a little too convenient.
