Tono-Bungay is very possibly H. G. Wells' finest novel, bringing together so many strands of his work: that of the novelist, the scientific romancer, the humorist, the historian, and the prophet-like sociologist. Herbert George Wells was one of the most prolific and visionary British writers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. H. G. Between 1895 and 1901 H. G. Wells wrote six science fiction novels, which have become among the most celebrated examples of the genre. Although published under the name of Jules Verne, “In the Year 2889” is now believed to be chiefly, if not entirely, the work of Jules' son, Michel Verne. In any event, many of the topics in the story echo Verne's ideas. A rather humorous look at the future.
