After a fun Christmas Eve decorating the tree and singing along with his mum to Queen, 15-year-old Spey wakes up on Christmas morning to find the ex-prisoner father he has never met asleep on the sofa. Then he receives a mysterious package in the post: a torn envelope filled with half a collage he made with his old friend, Dee, on her sixth birthday. Dee bounced between schools and pupil referral units until a tragedy meant she ended up in care outside of London, drawn into the world of county lines gangs. 

Shortly after her 16th birthday, Sunshine Griffith and her mother, Kat, move from sunny Austin, Texas, to the rain-drenched town of Ridgemont, Washington. Though Sunshine is adopted, she and her mother have always been close, sharing a special bond filled with laughter and inside jokes. But from the moment they arrive, Sunshine feels her world darken with an eeriness she cannot place. And even if Kat doesn't recognize it, Sunshine knows that something about their new house is just...creepy.

Is Sunshine Griffith who she thinks she is? Now that her luiseach powers are fully awakened, and having barely survived an abyss full of demons at the end of book two, Sunshine must figure out who - or what - has been organizing the forces of darkness against her. Thanks to her brainiac boyfriend, Nolan, they not only unearth that Sunshine's death would trigger a calamitous event, but that all civilization depends on her survival.

Sarah, Jonnie, and Katie, known as the Sunshine Mystery Magic Club in Brookhaven Middle School, certainly can’t afford a magic wand. That doesn’t mean they can’t make one. Right? But when they run into powers beyond their control and vanish, the special forces get called in to investigate who, or what, is behind this sudden magic in their neighborhood.
