Det er en lidt anderledes udgave af Grimms eventyr, vi finder i denne bog, hvor der er gjort meget ud af at fortælle for børn. Især er der lagt vægt på, at sproget skal være letforståeligt, og så er der blevet plads til lidt mere humor, end man normalt finder i de gamle folkeeventyr. Der er også skåret en del i de meget grusomme straffe, så de bliver knap så grusomme. En særdeles børnevenlig og højtlæsningsegnet udgave af brødrene Grimms eventyr – også for mindre børn.
