  • Texas Weather March 5 Morning - 45° Above Normal
    Mar 5 2026
Good morning. Texas. I'm Aaron Jolly. Seventy degrees and drizzling right now. But don't let that fool you. South Texas is about to crank the heat to 91 degrees today. That's 45 degrees above normal for early March. Your thermometer is confused. And honestly, so is everyone else. In the next 24 hours. Down in South Texas, sunshine drives you to 91 degrees. Southeast winds rip at 17 to 24 miles an hour, gusting past 30. The Gulf Coast parks at 83 under partly sunny skies. Central Texas hits 86 with a slight chance of showers before 3 P.M. North Texas stays cooler at 79, but scattered showers and thunderstorms roll through all day. If you're in the northern Panhandle this morning, dense fog has visibility down to a quarter mile or less until 11 A.M. Take it slow. Tonight, lows settle in the mid to upper 60s statewide. The full moon rises tonight, though clouds may steal the show. Tomorrow the pattern shifts. Showers and thunderstorms become likely across North Texas by afternoon. Central Texas sees storms developing too. The weekend turns wet and potentially stormy. Saturday brings a 70 to 90 percent chance of rain statewide. Some storms could turn severe, especially in Central and North Texas. Large hail and damaging winds are possible. We're gaining nearly two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise at 6:54 A.M., sunset at 6:33 P.M. One more thing. Tornado season officially begins in just 10 days. This weekend's storm pattern is a reminder that severe weather season is knocking on the door. If you find this helpful, a quick rating goes a long way. • Texas Weather March 4 Evening - 54° Above Normal
    Mar 5 2026
Good evening. Texas. I'm Aaron Jolly. A dangerous evening is unfolding across North Texas. Severe storms are pounding the Dallas area right now. We've a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Flash Flood Warning in effect. Some storms could dump one to two inches of rain. Hail the size of ping pong balls and 60 mile an hour wind gusts are possible before this wraps up around 10:30 tonight. If you're in Dallas or Kaufman County, stay inside and away from windows. In the next 24 hours. The rest of the state sits under a gray, mild blanket. We're starting at 78 degrees under overcast skies. That overnight low of 74 degrees? Closer to our normal high for early March than our low. Down in South Texas, you feel that Gulf breeze. Southeast winds gusting to 31 miles an hour keep things breezy. Highs climb to 91 degrees — 54 degrees above normal. The Rio Grande Valley feels more like late May. Central Texas wakes up to 68 degrees with a slight chance of morning thunderstorms. A few rumbles are possible before 9 A.M. Then partly sunny skies and a high of 85 degrees. The Gulf Coast stays mostly cloudy with a high of 82 degrees. Southeast winds at 10 to 15 miles an hour bring that familiar humid feel off the water. North Texas sees the most action. Storms continue overnight with heavy rain possible. Thursday brings a brief lull with a high near 80 degrees. An active pattern takes hold Friday and doesn't let go. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms roll through Saturday into early next week. Some storms could be strong to severe. And locally heavy rain may trigger flash flooding. Rain chances climb to 80 percent by Sunday. Happy Texas Independence Day! Tonight's full moon lights up those cloudy skies. Tornado season arrives in just 11 days. And spring equinox is about two weeks away. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

  • Texas Weather March 4 Midday - 54° Above Normal
    Mar 4 2026
Good afternoon. Texas. I'm Aaron Jolly. Eighty-two degrees under overcast skies right now. And we're not even close to the daytime high. South Texas tops out at a toasty 91 degrees this afternoon. That's 54 degrees above normal for early March. Happy Texas Independence Day, indeed. In the next 24 hours. Central Texas sits at 84 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms developing between 1 P.M. and 8 P.M. The Gulf Coast reaches 81 with a slight chance of storms early this afternoon. North Texas hits 80 degrees with scattered storms possible through this evening. Tonight, lows settle into the upper 60s statewide. That blanket of clouds sticks around. And under that full moon, it'll feel more like late May than early March. Thursday brings more warmth — highs again in the low to mid-80s — but the real story arrives Friday. A cold front sweeps in. And storm chances ramp up significantly. We're talking widespread showers and thunderstorms Friday through the weekend. Some could be strong to severe, especially Saturday. Tornado season starts in just 11 days. This weekend's pattern is a reminder that severe weather season is knocking on the door. The active pattern continues into early next week. Rain chances persist Monday and Tuesday as a cutoff low drifts across Texas. Could see some locally heavy rainfall totals by the time this wraps up. For now, enjoy the early taste of spring. But keep an eye on the sky this weekend. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
